Wonder what the asking price is on Hachimura. Seems like a Billups type and doesn’t project to start in Washington next season.
He's a more efficient scorer than Grant because of his 44% 3-point shooting. What's his defense like?
No idea really. I just don’t like the idea of giving up a lottery pick for Grant, and I got a feeling that would be a real possibility if/when they got one. Dunno what Rui would cost but can’t imagine it’s as much as Grant.
Ultimate ideal offseason for me (also trying to be realistic)… We end up around #6 and the NOP conveys around #10. Trade down from #6 and draft Tari Eason. With pick #10, I’d package it and find a trade on draft night. I have a feeling Hart will continue to show us he’s a perfect fit as the backup 2/3 and he can playmake a little bit. So I’d rather look for a backup PG in FA if Dame is here for the long term. Guys like Delon Wright, Ricky Rubio, Tyus Jones, etc can be had this summer. I wouldn’t consider keeping both selection unless one of the top 3 bigs falls to us. Otherwise, I’d rather trade the pick for an upgrade. Maybe Bledsoe + #10 for Grant. Not my favorite choice, but for the sake of trying to be realistic; if Dame wants him, I trust he can convince Grant to stay for around his current salary long term. So that would take care of one forward spot. In FA, re-sign Ant for around the Brown contract and Nurkic around $18m/year. Re-sign Watford for 3-4 years. Sign Jalen Smith and Delon Wright for market value. You still have Little, the TPE, and our two 2nds to make an upgrade at the starting wing. Jonathan Isaac fits in the TPE and would probably be my ideal fit. If we got word that he’s making good progress, I’d give them both of our 2nds + some of the assets we get for trading down from #6. Dame/Wright Simons/Hart/Johnson Grant/Little/Eason Isaac/Eason/Watford Nurkic/Smith Maybe you look for a third big. But I think this team competes as soon as next year.
Another guy that is 100% a Billups type is Payton’s kid. Not sure how much he’s gonna get or how he even fits on this roster but that’s a Billups player if I ever saw one.
I just don't get this. He's completely different than ZCo. He's a perimeter player with a good handle and a legit stroke. He's much more like Porzingis or Markkanen.
I don’t think he’s like them at all, they’re just all tall white guys. Chet is an ELITE defensive prospect while probably not being the scorer that Porzingis and maybe even Markkanen are. But he can space the court and finishes everything around the rim. btw being compared to Zach isn’t a bad thing. He’s a good player when on the court.
Josh Hart is a backup? I think anyone saying this is fucking nuts. He plays solid defense and just scored 27 points on 16 shots. Maybe this kind of output from a guard is baffling to Blazer fans, but this is the kind of efficiency (along with his defense) that helps make you a contender. Stephen Curry's backcourt partner isn't another Stephen Curry.
Tj Thank you! If I see one more post about simons starting next to dame I am gonna lose my freaking mind. This isn’t stotts we are talking here, this is Billups. I promise you when next season come and if dame, simons, and hart are still on the roster, Billups will start dame and hart with simons being our electrifying super 6th man
I don't know who I forgot. If you're saying McLemore we just have too many young guys on the team for him to have a roster spot. We already have Keon, Elijah and Didi that we will either have under contract or the right to match, plus in this scenario we would be keeping Hart. So I don't think we'd be bringing back Ben.
Trade Lillard for Anthony Davis. We're contenders. It gives LA a legit #1 guy who is healthy. The Blazers get one of the top 2-way players in the league and one of the top big men. Just what we need. Davis seems a bit disonnected in LA. He will be revitalized by the energy of the Blazers. edit: If Winslow to Nurkic is good, Winslow to Davis would be incredible. Like these:
