If that is the case and ant comes off the bench... What if someone tries to sign him for more money than we can/want to match if we are to have him be our 6th man? What's that number, ya know?

Yeah because what we need is a oft-injured big man coming to a team that is cursed with big men.

Ehh that doesn’t make much sense. You’re going go be paying him over $25m/yr. You’re better off doing a sign-and-trade + assets for someone like Brown and starting Dame/Hart/Brown/_____/Nurkic. Then you’d only have to worry about one forward left.

I still say who cares who starts. There are more than enough minutes to go around. 32 minutes apiece easily for Dame, Hart, and Simons.
Plus Hart can play some minutes at SF. (hell he has played PF before-not that I would want that)

Give Dame to LAL? Maybe if they gave us like 3 draft picks. That's not a knock on Davis, it's a knock on LAL and how I'd never, EVER send Dame to LAL of all places.

That's assuming that Boston would be willing to swap Brown for Ant+filler. Sure it'd be better, but it takes two to tango.

Reality is, chances are low that another team will be likely to give up significant assets to procure Simons in a S&T, so we have to maximize our assets by keeping him and validating his play this season by having him do something similar alongside Dame next year.

Skinny, not athletic, no thank you. He's not gonna make it in the NBA at anything approaching an elite level. Did you have Giannis over CJ? I did. When I pay attention the one thing I get right often is the draft with the notable exception of Oden over Durant, but then I'm guessing you had that too, almost everyone did and props to those who correctly saw Durant. Oden's injuries were what I didn't understand until after the draft. Holmgren is slow, unathletic, and skinny. He's not like the skinny guys like Giannis or Durant who had otherworldly coordination and athleticism, plus in the case of Durant extreme skills. This guy will be MUCH closer to a rotation player than a DPOTY get outta here lmfao.

I'm fine with Lillard and Hart to start. Just make sure Ant gets heavy minutes as 6th man.

That's fair enough. Neither of those guys are DPOTY or even perennial all-star level guys. He's gonna be a rotation player maybe a starter just due to height, tops. Guy will never sniff a DPOTY award nor all-star bearth unless he goes to a CA or CCP backed team (ala Houston with Yao Ming) that overwhelm the fan voting. Dude doesn't impress me at all watching his highlights. Slow and lumbering he's just picking on tiny college guys and will get bullied in the NBA.

I guess we don't need a championship either.
And Nurkic is the epitome of a healthy big man.

AD has missed 1 playoff game out of 40 in his career. I'll take that.

Clearly a duo of Ant and Dame is terrifying offensively but how bad would they be on defense? How would it be different than Dame and CJ? That is Portland's biggest offseason concern for me. Dame and Hart seems like a safer bet for a well-rounded backcourt. You hate to sign and trade Ant but if it means getting a borderline superstar wing do you do it?

Ant is good people. That's worth something too. And he's terribly young and has not reached his ceiling (most likely). On the other hand paying Ant is safe for post-Dame Portland.

I say keep Ant and give him a payday. And hope to hell Dame and Ant can play some defense.

Personally, I am just not seeing the CJ/ Ant similarities on D. Nonetheless that is why you match them both with Hart and hell even Winslow for that matter.
Either way, I say you at least try it until next February. Dame can not keep playing 36-38 minutes per game.

It makes no sense to me to hope Ant and Dame can play defense when we have Josh Hart. It would make sense if we didn't have Josh Hart, but we do have Josh Hart.

If I had a team that could offer big money, I certainly would try getting Simons. I'd offer him the max he could be paid. CJ is getting $30 million and he's 30 years old.

It is laughable to think that before the season started a few posters said it would be stupid even to extend him at 7 million per year.

I will 100% take that bet that if Dame, Ant and Hart are on the roster next season, Dame and Simons will start. There is absolutely no way Ant will come off the bench.

I agree, a Brown package would be the best. However, with AD’s value down I wonder what Lebron would be willing to give up for Dame. I mean if LAL miss the playoffs and with the emergence of Ant would we really turn down a package of AD and a lottery pick? Davis is 4 years younger and when he plays motivated is unstoppable. Could Billups get that out of him? Having AD and 3 lotto picks(potentially), TPE, and MLE would be insane.

    Ant/lotto pick
    Hart/Keon
    Nas/Winslow/Hughes
    AD/Watford
    Nurk/lotto pick

Trade the 3rd pick and TPE for a proven player. The flexibility would be insane. Rather have Brown though and trade for Grant.

    Ant
    Hart
    Brown
    Grant
    Nurk

    I think that’s ^ a championship starting lineup potentially
