I still think facilitating Ben to SAC makes the most sense. CJ/Cov/pick to PHI Mitchell/Barnes/Bagley to POR Simmons/filler to SAC Lillard/mitchell Powell/Simons Barnes/little Nance/bagley nurkic/Zeller that’s a better team than what we’re running with now.
I don't understand trading CJ and one of the reasons being to get a 6 foot guard back. Simons deserves all the backup guard minutes. This trade makes us worse.
Davion is a point of attack defender that's strong enough to defend 3s in stretches and is leagues more switchable than CJ. Also, Barnes/Nance are both small 4s that can guard on the perimeter fairly well (and are switchable). We'd go from a small team to a big team (and Powell gets to play SG) with more balanced scorers. Also, Barnes/Mitchell are both WAY better at swinging the ball around and attacking closing defenders than Covington. We would be far better.
But Barnes is a very mediocre defender and Bagley sucks on that end. Just seems like it's rearranging the problems while we downgrade top-end talent and struggle even more to give everyone minutes.
Simmons should go to Sac, but we shouldn't facilitate it! If CJ/Cov/Pick got Simmons, then we should fucking keep Simmons. Otherwise:
It improves our cap situation a lot as well. In other words, we could keep Ant and get Davion for cheap for a couple of years. CJ/Ant/Powell isn't sustainable.
We would still need to do another consolidation trade to get under tax, so something along the lines of Covington to OKC for Pokusevski. Run the starting lineup of Dame, Norm, Barnes, Nance, KAT and bench of Smith, Ant, Little, Poku, Zeller.
Minnesota and Philadelphia are getting killed so that Portland and Sacramento can massively increase their talent level.
They've said they're not trading Fox and they're not trading Haliburton, and yet they want Simmons. That basically just leaves Mitchell.
lol...yeah I'd wonder if because of Olshey's history of bidding against himself if he was on a short leash in terms of offering contracts and extensions. Ownership might have wanted to see what the market was before giving Ant any extension
Sixers end up with CJ only? I think it’s been established that isn’t enough. Morey wants a legit star back.
