https://www.blazersland.com/time-to-do-the-opposite/ This is from a year ago but seemed at least somewhat relevant to the OP. Since the Blazers can't beat the Warrior (or Houston) at that kind of game, why not 'do the opposite'?
I prefer to just make the corners not be 3-pointers. Make the line an even distance from the hoop as far as it can go until it hits the sidelines. It's up to the player how close they want to squeeze their big ol' shoes into that tight space for a shorter shot. That way, you don't change the court dimensions (a major sticking point), and you still discourage the short 3-pointer that's harming the game in the opinion of many. Instead of everyone fanning out on the break for the corner 3, you might get a few more people slashing for a higher percentage shot worth the same amount.
I think OKC currently has that distinction on lockdown. They have the third highest payroll in the league, right behind GSW and CLE, are $13 million over the tax threshold, and they have a losing record. BNM
Re-reading this thread (sorry for resurrecting the zombie), it's sad how clearly the majority of the forum saw the need for additional size/length over 4 years ago, yet the FO remained frustratingly unable/unwilling to pursue this route.
fun yet depressing zombie thread that (hey!) i started. i was skeptical of Neil's motives then, really sad they've manifested as they have.
And they've been trying pills, stretching exercises, injections, and that one weird trick ever since, but nothing has helped. barfo
