...yeah, I remember when that first came out...actually kinda like that version and the video too.

    "People talking without speaking
    People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
    No one dare
    Disturb the sound of silence"

outstanding tune- still listen alot to S&G, and Simon's solo works, a genius he is-

I've often wondered if Paul (in his young years); had read 'Plato's Republic': "Allegory of the Cave"...?

    “The words of the prophets
    Are written on subway walls
    And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence”

    compare to:

"Between the iron gates of fate
The seeds of time were sown
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known.
    Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools".

"The wall on which the prophets wrote
    Is cracking at the seams.
    Upon the instruments of death
    The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
    With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
    When silence drowns the screams".

either way one slices and dices it, IMO, this IS the era of American Decadence....

    >My father disliked him immensely. His opinion centered on the $ sign associated with ARod. His legacy was never recognized by my dad who passed in 012 @93. For him,it was a simple comparison to all the great Yankees he admired before. He liked the great 40's, 50's and 60's teams and surely had many players who wanted the game rather than a fat paycheck every game. $$$$$$$$$
