That's the way it is. This isn't Candy Lsnd. Talent is rare and you pay a premium for it. Olshey is doing the best he can given the circumstances. Don't have high expectations as a Portland fan. Dude. You'll just be dissapointed.
I rhink ao far this was at least an interesting off-season, Olshey has gone an unexpected way but I applaud him, I think it might work. I think a good season would be above 10 and best-case scenario we have a better record than last year.
I hate it too, but explain how we could avoid it. LMA didn't want to come back, and other than Dame, the rest of our team was built to coexist with LMA. We have to rebuild and hope some of these young guys deliver on their potential. I'm inclined to think Neil is doing the best that can be done for us at this point.
No it feels much more like Chutes and Ladders!!! Actually, I think what some people are missing is that we have zero bad contracts, tons of cap space, and a star. That is why we are not rebuilding. Rebuilding involves waiting for years or giving up a lot of assets to get you 30-year-olds contracts removed from your cap.
I am completely on board. I'm going to enjoy this season; and frankly the real team will look pretty darn good after watching these summer league games. barfo
This will be a long season, but we are most assuredly a bottom 5 team. I think the next draft is top-heavy. If you are going to tank, this is the year to do it. Olshay's needs to get an impact FA or player via trade next summer though.
He's not too old (26), he's just had an awful injury history. He did put up a 47 point performance against the Mavs at the end of last season. I'd take a flyer on him for the season if the Nuggets were looking to shed salary sine this is the final year of his contract.
What we're perfectly positioned to do is to develop a core of young players, and have the ability, between them and cap space, to make a potential trade the next time a big player is on the market. Disclaimer, don't think he's coming here, but boogie goes on the market, you can offer them 2 young Cs, 2 young PFs, 2 young SFs, young sg. Build up a cache of assets
With our current roster, if these guys make the playoffs, that would be amazing. And we'd be in great shape for the future. Says a couple prospects blew up. And from then, only way to go is up.
