I didn't go through this whole thread so excuse me if i repeat some names...

Stock up this season:
Jason Richardson - i honestly didn't think he had it in him to have this good of a year
Erick Dampier - another warrior with a career year...definitely surprised me
James Posey - he was always solid, but he's brought his game up another notch this season
Lamar Odom - I was convinced Miami overpaid for him, but he's proving me wrong
Carlos Boozer - We saw signs of it last season and he's really taken it up another level this year
Kenny Thomas - He has played surprising well this season averaging a double-double
Deshawn Stevenson - that trade seemed to revitalize his game...he actually looks like he belongs now
Skip-Rafer Alston - he's proving he can be an effective backup/spot starter ...

Stock down (only have time to name a few...)

Steve Francis - Although he's putting up solid numbers, it is becoming more and more apparent that Yao is indeed "the franchise"
Eddy Curry - this was suppose to be his year after finishing strong last season...

Richard Jefferson has also increased his stock with everyone thinking he was nothing without Kidd.

Last 5 games: 25.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.60 steals, 58.4% FG, 66.7% 3PT, 85.3% FT.

Last 10 games: 23.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.40 steals, 50.3% FG, 37.0% 3PT, 82.4% FT.

Stock up:

1. Arenas with his all-around display. However, his injuries can also put him in the stock down players.
2. Jefferson with an added arsenal- Jumper.
3. Kenyon with his impact plays during some games while averaging close to double figures.
4. Dampier for being a monster without Murphy.
5. Boozer for his amazing display with or without Bron.
6. Lamar Odom for finally playing healthy and delivering.

Stock down:

1. Vince Carter for his inconsistent display and his team's mediocre showing.
2. Eddy Curry for still being soft after a great 2nd half last season.
3. Iverson for his antics

Too many to mention actually.

Good list, although I don't rememeber Curry's stock being high, it was always hype. Steve Francis is a real good player, but I don't think he up there with Stephon, Kidd, Davis and the rest. I would also add Richard Jefferson to your rising stock list. Also, I never knew if Zach Randolph would be a real good player, but it seems like he will. He is having a real good year.

Stock Falling

Tracy McGrady - he needs help for himself, he cant win games by himself.

Allen Iverson - he is one of my favorite players, but I cant be too biased, his injurys have gotten the better o fhim

Stock Rising

Zach Randolph - I think he has stepped up alot since hes gotten more playing time and the trade of Rasheed.

I agree with you that he's inconsistant and his team reeks, but what some of us are trying to say is that if you compare his value now to how it was one or two years ago, you would see a definate improvement. If you were comparing his stock now to how it was in his glory days (rookie season to 2000-2001 season), then yah, it's about 10 times worse. But this season, it did go up compared to last season. If it did actually go down, then that would be due to injury issues, not on his performance alone.

Well, the way I measure stock is by the value of the player. Many times, hype is enough to give a player a lot of vaule. For example, Darko barely plays and doesn't put up any sort of impressive numbers, but yet he still carries high value...therefore Darko's stock is high....u understand what i'm tryin to say?

After a strong showing at the end of last season, Curry's value rose quite a bit along with high expections. IT was "hype" but hype is value nonethless. He came out and didn't live up to expectations so now his stock has dropped. He looks more and more like a bust..the hype is almost gone

Stock Falling

Jerry Stackhouse Jerry who? A season ago Stackhouse was the main offensive weapon for the Wizards, and a few years back he was leading an underachieving Pistons team into the playoffs. This year Stackhouse has been hit with the injury bug, and his 14.0 PPG average is a strong indication of how far Stackhouse's value has dropped. He is now clearly the odd man out in the Arenas-Hughes-Stackhouse debate.

Steve Francis he's been lost since being demoted to second fiddle behind Yao Ming. Francis as shown a lot of selfishness and immaturity with the way he's handled his head coaches's decisions and by not agreeing Yao is the best way for the Rockets to win games. At least his migraines aren't keeping him out of every other game this year.

Eddy Curry defines laziness. I'm really disappointed in his digression. Reports were that Curry worked very hard in the off-season, but it's obvious those reports were false and Curry hasn't learned to defend or rebound for a man of his size. 6.2 RPG at 6-11 is pathetic.

Chris Webber you can't really blame it on injuries, because Webber has played with injuries his entire career. He has clearly lost his jumping ability and footwork. CWebb still has a lot of rust in his game and makes my list of free falling stocks.

Allan Houston all he does is score, and when he drops by 4ppg in his scoring average from 22.5 last year to 18.5 this year, the value of H20 is definitely drying up.

Caron Butler a victim of injuries and the sophmore jinx. He took a big step back from last year in all the major categories. He's finally starting to turn it around, but it's been a struggle all season long for Caron.

Wally Szczerbiak far removed from All Star status, Wally has been relinquised to a role player averaging only 21.1 minutes per game and under double digits in PPG.

Stock Rising

Zach Randolph big minutes, big numbers for Portland's franchise player.

Andrei Kirilenko complete game and the sole star on an overachieving Utah team. He plays both ends of the court very well and has the rare ability to make everyone around him better.

Michael Redd is a star in the making with his ability to score anywhere on the court. He's easily becoming one of the best shooters in the game today and has been steady all season long.

Carlos Boozer he's been a key factor for the resurgent Cavs this year. His tenacity on the boards has the Cavs amongst the leaders in team RPG. He creates his own offense and is a double double threat every night.

James Posey he's had an underrated season, and is finally getting some long awaited recognition for his accomplishments this year. He's slowly becoming the best player on a very deep and talented team. The Grizzlies used to be all about JWill and Gasol, but you have to put Posey ahead of them at this point in the season.

Jamaal Magloire he's become one of the premiere big men not only in the East, but in the NBA. He does all the little things inside the paint and is a solid rebounder and shotblocker every game.

Joe Johnson has taken full advantage of the Marbury trade and has provided the Suns a third scoring option and a threat from the perimeter. JJ has also stepped up his defense this year and is slowly shedding the inconsistency label.

Kevin Garnett just when you thought the best couldn't get any better. KG has put up even better stats despite having more talent around him. He has been the 2004 MVP since day one. Amazing year for KG and the TWolves.

Jamaal Magloire is definitely on the rise. It's good to see another big man step up in the East. It's few and far between. LOL, too bad he's going West next year.

I still get a little pissed thinking about the C's mortgaging the future for Rogers and Delk that year.

JJ has gone from being thought of as the next Calbert Chaney in Boston (explanation: "I've never seen a shot I like") to something special in PHX.

Boston now has nothing to show for that trade, including the banner it was supposed to help bring. [IMG]

Iverson slipped quite a bit this year with the injuries and all, but I think he'll bounce back....
As far as improved goes, I think Lebron and Carmello have both just shocked the world with how quickly they've adapted to NBA comp.... I know that they have no previous experience to base improvement on, but just improvement over the course of the season is huge for both guys....

And just to add something else.... I agree with what someone said about Vince Carter being better than the past 2 seasons, but still not quite the 99-01 years.... That 40% 3-ball is one of the greatest things about VC... If he can keep that entact over the years and just get a little more consistent from game to game with that mid-range J, then he'll still have the opportunity to be great, even if the dunks continue to grow fewer and further between. He should consistently be a 25ppg-5rpg-5apg guy.... Consistency will be the key to the future of his success, but when he's on with those fall-aways, there's nothin' I'd rather watch in sports - not even Mike Vick scramblin' for 50 yard touchdowns (and that's sayin a hell of a lot).....

I really think that Redd's stock has risen tremendously. He has really shown exactly what kind of a player he can be when he gets more minutes. Another one who I didn't see on this page was Jamal Crawford. He has really came into his own this year since he's been a full time starter and not splitting minutes with anyone. He showed today just how explosive he is by dropping 50.
