None, although I believe in the possibility of divine creatures. I do not believe in divine intervention however. Sure, it seems pretty amazing that everything we know is a product of chanse, but in a universe that is beyond anything we can emagine, the odds, although bad, still have a decent chanse to come through. Hey, it might not even be a universe, it might be a multiverse (with different laws of physics etc in each part).
Athiest. I refuse to believe in some ridiculous story about how the earth was created by a man. I personally think religion was just made up get people to believe that if they're a good person, they'll go to heaven, or if they're bad, they'll go to hell, hence trying to create more of 'trouble free' society. Backing it up with a book about "laws" that will ensure you go to heaven. I just believe in common knowledge, and that is evolution. We just evolved over time, like we have been doing the last 100+ years (somthing that we definatley know of). As for the universe, well thats just too extreme to think of really.
Scientology.. Nah I'm pulling your leg. Actually I'm born a Catholic but I don't care much for it. I'm much more into discovering lost study rather than religion.
For those people who have religious beliefs, if you found out aliens exist would it effect your beliefs? I ask because there's been a project called SETI which searches for signals in outer space using a grid and piggy backing off servers from all over the world. One of the biggest investors in the project is Paul Allen (Trailblazers owner.) Just recently they've been getting signals for two straight weeks coming from outer space. SETI wants Paul Allen to hold a press conference to announce the findings, but he's been hesistant to do it. So if it comes to fact there is life outside of the planet earth does how will it alter your beliefs?
This is a good question, but I've found the majority of religous people to be skeptical over the subject of these discoveries and vast others. Such as space in particular, that God created the universe. I just can't believe that after advanced science. I wouldn't say there is no God, because we can't actually say that either as we don't really know. I would continue but then this subject would turn into science and that's not fair.
im coptic orthadox almost the same thing as catholics, i dont really know if im religious or not. i believe that there is a god and jesus, but i dont go to church, i dont really belive in priests, all i really do is pray and belive theres a god and jesus

I cant believe a lotta people dont have religions and for those who are asking how earth was created.. I believe that Earth weas created by god and god made evrything on earth inlcuding us..and he created us so we can worship him..and the only reason he didn't make us perfect was because he wants us to make our own decisions in believing in him..

There's scientific evidence to explain a lot more about Earth than the bible can. Why is religion important to you and what are the benefits of it? If you believe god created people to worship him, then why would you want to worship such a self-involved thing?
Luckily for me, my religion doesn't try to dwelve too much into scientific issues. It tends to stick to philosophical/societal problems, of which there are plenty. This allows me to accept any scientific discoveries that I find logical. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">If you believe god created people to worship him, then why would you want to worship such a self-involved thing?</div> I've always believed that God wants us to worship him for the opposite of what you're saying. I think God loves all humans equally and religion/faith is not meant to please Him/Her. Rather, it is a gift that provides us with spiritual strength and an escape from the material. I know it sounds kind of preachy. But, I've come across that question a lot of times over the years and I've found that's the only answer that both makes sense to me and doesn't contradict the fundamental belief that all humans are equal in the eyes of God.

I'm a Christian and I believe that God created the Earth and the universe around us. It would probably take more faith for me to believe the big bang theory or that the Earth has simply always existed. The world has so many things in it that I just can't believe "developed over time." For example the Earth is placed just close enough too the sun that it doesn't freeze and just far away that we don't burn up. I doubt it was just a coincidence that the big bang theory occurred in that exact location. In another instance if Earth were smaller it wouldn't be able to support an atmosphere, like on Mercury. If it were larger, like Jupiter, the atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, which is poisonous to humans. Religion is very important to me and I don't see how I could live without it. I have heard many stories of depressed people because they feel that their life has no purpose. I'm not saying that Christians never get depressed because that would just be flat out lying. But my point is that without religion what would be the purpose in my life I would my life, I would die, and that would be it. BTW One more thing I would rather live a Christian life and die and find out there’s no God, than live an atheist life and find out there is one.
both science and religion make no sence in one way or another if you really think about. religion says there is one god(well most) and that he created everything well fi you think about it where dide god come from. also science says that there was a big boom that created everything how would a big boom happen if theres nothing there. if you really think and go back nothing makes sence
Science never determined a "Big Bang" created the Earth, its all a theory, hence the name, "Big Bang Theory", meaning it <u>could</u> be a possibility as to how the Earth came about. Now, I have a simple question I would like to see answered by everyone in this topic who believes in god. That question is, what is God?
He created everything. How do i know god and how he created everything. I am suppose to believe in that. Thats what my religion says and thats what i believe.
Right, so you admit to not knowing what it is you're worshipping? Also did I see you refer to God as "he", please explain to me how its possible for a single man to create an entire universe by himself. I'm interested to hear how "he" did it.
