Anfernee isn't even in love with the nickname "Ant"..
His Mom called him that 'cos nobody could say "Anfernee"
When I would greet him, I would always say "'Sup ANFERNEE".....
The kid that plays for Minnesota...Is 'Ant'..

I'm glad he isn't in love with it, it's a lame nickname. When your NAME is a variation of an actual name, and is cool in the first place, you don't need a nickname.

The "6th man/super sub" train left a long time ago. Plus, who uses the term "super sub" anymore? Are we in the 1980s?

Me, that’s who (uses the term).

And yes. I know it left a long time ago, that’s why I said it’ll never happen. But that’s what his role should be.

6th men are players who aren't good enough to start (or have a totally stacked starting 5). He's too good to come off the bench, and there isn't a better player ahead of him.

Didn’t James Harden come off the bench for the OKC Thunder back when they made the finals?

At any rate, I disagree. I’d argue Tyler Herro is better than Strus.

And I’d also argue Hart is a better fit in the starting lineup than Ant is. Not a better player although I think they’re probably closer than most of us would like to admit, but a better fit, particularly if we want to have a halfway respectable defense.

At the time James Harden should've started and had he started and been given starting minutes/role, he might have stayed there instead of prematurely breaking up that team.

Finishing games is more important then starting them & getting mid-30s minutes is more important then either.

If Lillard plays for 34 per game, Simons getting the other 14 plus 16-18 at SG, and Hart at around 30 as well, The Lillard-Simons pairing is only for a third of the game. If Hart plays the 1 (splitting his time equally at guard) as has been foreshadowed by Hart, himself, then it’s possible for maximizing Lillard and Simons together on the court.

Which is the better version of Simons? SG or PG/SG? [I realize there are additional factors in the mix, but if Hart is as good (or nearly so) as Simons at PG, maximize Simons.]

Now Simmons value has sunk so low and Anfernee's has grown, a sign-and-trade of Simons-for-Simmons is almost plausible and our roster would be much more balanced. I'd prefer to keep Simons and trade Dame, but I don't see that happening.

    Simmons for Dame? No.
Simmons for Simons? High risk, High reward. It's not a no, though a scoring wing would be needed. And though Simons' value has shot up to significant, Simmons has dropped HARD.

Manu was also 30 when he started to come off the bench. Simons is like 22.

    So nice try

Do you hate our team or is it just a bunch of bad takes? I can't tell anymore.

So outside of his rookie year, where he averaged 7.6 ppg, a year which no one knew he'd be what he ended up being, he was off the bench.

Point stands. Bringing up Manu as evidence that Simons should be off the bench is laughable.

I fail to see what age has to do with it. Do you think Ginobili wasn't better than the guy starting in front of him because he was all of 30 years old? Who even was it? Danny Green?

    Thanks!
