I was thinking of: "The Lightning Bolt from Thor Lillard that Extinguished the Thunder" That does seem a bit lengthy, however.
I waltzed into this thread excited to name it this...except you already did. I can't think of a better name.
“The Last Word” because of this: "The game, the series was over and that was it," Lillard said. "And I was just waving goodbye to them. I think after Game 3, Dennis Schroderwas out there pointing to his wrist, they was out there doing all these celebrations and doing all these stuff. We kept our composure and after one win that's what they decided to do. And we was just like, 'OK, what we want to do is win four games.' And then when we win those four games there's not going to be nothing to talk about. So that's what that was. "There's been a lot of back and forth, a lot of talk and all this stuff, and that was the last word. That was having the last word." http://www.espn.com.au/nba/story/_/id/26592185/lillard-37-foot-buzzer-shot-last-word
Maybe we should just start numbering them, 2.0, 3.0, etc. since he may have a couple more this playoffs alone.
I don’t like The “Bad” Shot because even with the quotation marks it gives some sort of legitimacy (no matter how slight) to George’s claim that it was indeed a bad shot; even though that has been statistically disproven.
Enes said Dame was practicing that shot, from that far out, before in the shoot around. It appears Dame may have been planning to make that his final comment on Westbrick talking shit all along. Dame definitely let the shot do the talking.
"The Last Word" is perfect. - He says it in the presser after. - It characterizes 2 things: 1. OKC talking smack the whole series and Dame getting the last word. 2. The Blazers finally being spoken about in the national media vs. 'what went wrong in OKC' (which literally happened after each game). - "Last" ties into the fact that it's a series ending buzzer beater at the last second, which almost never happens.
I really think PG said it perfectly when he said it’s a “bad, bad shot”. Dame is a bad, bad man. That was a bad, bad shot. Nobody else has ever been out here killing series’ at the Buzzer multiple times. That was a great shot, if he missed he does not lose the game. PG sees a massive risk and calls it bad, Dame sees a massive gain, and calls it good. Rest is history and we are living it.
