The salary savings is the only aspect of the trade that offers us anything - and it doesn't even offer us (the fans, the team) anything...it just saves Paul a few mil. The extra roster spot is, IMO, not worth anything - we have enough mediocre players that either need playing time but won't get it, or don't deserve playing time but will have it handed to them.
Turner? Sure! I really don't care about Meyers. He's a wasted $10M, but he seems to be a good guy who doesn't pout when he's glued to the end of the bench. Of course I'd be happier to scrub that $10M off our cap, but whatevs. But we're not just dumping Turner - we'd be getting back CHANDLER FUCKING PARSONS. Just say his name - it should be enough to make your skin crawl. I also think that a $10M and a $17M contract gives you more flexibility than a $24M (or whatever) contract.
It doesn't make it crawl more than butters. Sorry. Turner is a net negative and Parsons is now 100%. He's a much better fit than either of them. And a 24 million expiring contract is easily worth more.
Are you sure he is 100%? All i know is know is his stats last year sucked. I thought it was stil post injury recovery. If he is 100% and the numbers he put up last year are there, i would even be more concerned. Wasnt parsons a net negative last year also?
Says he is here: https://clutchpoints.com/grizzlies-...looks-to-be-on-his-way-to-regaining-old-form/ And here: https://bealestreetbears.com/2018/0...looking-best-since-joining-memphis-grizzlies/
https://www.blazersedge.com/2018/8/...anta-hawks-portland-trail-blazers-evan-turner Kent Bazemore Makes a Tempting Trade Target for the Trail Blazers Atlanta might be willing to part with the relatively expensive, but attractive, swingman. Could Portland make a relevant offer?
Not a fan. Bazemore is more of a 2 guard and I'm just not willing to give up our first to dump turner. I'd rather save it for a potential deadline deal that could make more of an impact. And if we keep it, next year's draft isn't great up top but pretty deep in wings / combo forwards. DeAndre Hunter, Jalen McDaniels, Jaylen Hoard and Rui Hachimura are all intriguing to me.
Their contracts cancel out so it turns into: I'd Bazemore worth a 1st? Maybe if it's top 20 protected and they send back an early 2nd.
Hunter seems like he could play right away, but his low ceiling will keep him borderline lottery. Rui will be a stud if he develops his jumper. Isn't Jalen McDaniels in the HS class of 2019?
So his argument is that Portland, a playoff team, should value 1st round picks more than Atlanta, a bottom 5 team in the league? Smh.
You don't need to tell me about Turner - I know how much that dude sucks. But I'm not so sure about Parsons being 100%. If he can, in fact, play at even 80% of his pre-injury form then I would definitely be on-board for this swap, and be willing to overlook his Chandlerness. But it seemed like his career was following the Wes Matthews path. But I suppose I'd rather have Wes than Turner...but it's WES!
At this point, Turner probably has more on court value than Parsons - but - if the Blazers don't dump some payroll, I fear the next move will be to trade Aminu for a 2nd rd pick in 2025.
We went through this already. The only team that could take Aminu right now without sending money back is Sacramento and it is unlikely they would want him. There are a few other teams with a trade exception big enough but most of those teams are rebuilding ones that likely wouldn't want him either.
I'll take Turner defending Lebron or Kawhi or Durant anytime over Chandler Parsons....you trade good defense for a guy like him and we'll scrape the bottom of the defensive stats once again...you need defenders...Turner and Chief are really good defenders from my view..Chandler Parsons is injury prone and has gotten worse year by year.he's also a terrible defender..and he has a lousy contract..don't get the value myself
