What to do with Aminu?

Doesn’t seem like Aminu actually fasts. Stotts was asked about Kanter and said he’s never had a player that did it except Shareef abdur rahim. So wtf is wrong with Aminu?

Has Turner been in a funk due to his reduced role since acquiring Hood?

I say, give Turner more burn earlier in the game and more responsibility handling the ball and freeing up Dame to play off the ball. I think he'll respond. And if he doesn't, abort the experiment and try something else.
No, he sucks. Thats why hes sucking. Giving him more responsibility would suck.

Did I say he'd stop KD with his lockdown defense?
No.
Thanks for putting words in my mouth.

Your posts are getting really hostile recently. Time to put you back on ignore.
Wanna race to 5? I've got a couple prime candidates on my list.... Lol

And @TorturedBlazerFan , this is kinda like getting probed by an alien from outer space. How do you know you wont like it, if you haven't tried it???

Lol

Because it's Muslims from the middle East most are afraid of. Nigeria (where most of my genes come from) isn't some oppressive regime either.

:dunno:
Was pretty much my point. Again i was just going to let that sit there. Muslim hate is an interesting thing indeed. But that is a conversation for a different time and place.

Except they don't win game 7 vs Denver without him in there. But sure "He Sucks" sounds like a reasonable response. I have a 11 year old nephew that can relate.

Dude has one mediocre quarter and suddenly he doesnt suck? Ok.

Compared to an average NBA player, he sucks.

But if you wamt me to be more proper, hes sub-par.

I can respect that response.
But... Somebody has to have the stones to do this-

There is also a pic somewhere of him grabbing Harris by the throat in a skirmish. Every team needs a player that will do that. Tuner (Like him or not) is that guy for the Blazers.

Every team needs a guy who will flip off thenother team and shove their throats?

Why dont we just take that $18M and spend it on an MMA fighter?

Well the obvious answer is defense. Even when Aminu's playing bad on defense he's still better than Layman by a lot on that end of the court.
Why do you think that it's obvious? It required Terry to put in ET to guard Millsap after Aminu was repeatedly torched by Millsap. He can't guard scoring PFs. And he is becoming too immobile to guard fast SFs. I don't see what you are.

Because Jake is absolutely horrid on defense, sure he’ll make a block once in a while, but Aminu at least can stay in front of guys, Jake cant.

True. I can agree with that 100%
And yes there are players that could bring the very same fire and contribute more consistently.
I cannot get past how much of an effect he has on this team though. I have not been to a lot of games this season but most of them i have been to have been 5-10 rows back of the Blazer bench. Talk to people who have sat there consistently and they will tell you the very same thing. Turner has a way of leading this team that few others can pull off. When he fires up the whole team does. I can't even explain it better than that. It will never show up in the stat sheet.

Now as far as the thread topic. Yes the Blazers must find a replacement for Aminu or use Collins in his place and move Aminu to a lesser role. I don't care which it is but one of those things must happen.

With all the hustle, game momentum changing shots Chief has made, I'm not throwing him under the bus for a mini slump...Go Blazers! Hope Chief brings it tonight.

Dude, Gallinari blows by him on a single dribble. And I don't think Gallinari qualifies as a "fast" SF.
There's a reason Moe is the one guarding wings. Aminu is a decent defender, but I don't think he's the lockdown guy that people make him out to be.

Aminu has never been a "lock-down" defender. His defensive value comes from versatility--being a solid option defending 1 through 4. Very useful for switching, but he's not going to shut anyone down.

Agreed. He's versatile for sure, but he's not better than average at guarding any position. People confuse his ability to somewhat adequately guard multiple positions with being good at guarding in general - the two are not the same thing.

You think Layman can do the same if given the shot? I see no reason to break the bank on Aminu when we have a guy behind him who can probably give the same impact defensively while being way better on offense. Granted he too is a FA, but not unrestricted.

This.

1. No.

2. Aminu will be had for cheap (Jake too but still there's no "breaking the bank" on Aminu).

3. Yeah right. Layman with an IDIOTIC pass to Lebron for an easy dunk. Then I literally see his soul leave his body on that screen.

I don't see the value in posting ONE play in the very first start of his career against the second greatest player of all time to indicate that Layman is a bad defender. Because you know, Aminu is so smart and never makes mistakes.

And given how easily Dame broke down Rondo on the very subsequent play, I guess Rondo sucks defensively too.

Sheesh

It's funny, because on that screen, it was really Nurkic and Aminu who failed defensively rather than Layman.
