He is on an expiring contract. Can we get someone better than Nurk and Grant for him? It is doubtful but at least by the trade deadline we will have a better idea about their current backups. If Watford, Walker, Winslow, and/or Saar look like they deserve those backup minutes then there is no need to trade Hart.
A consolidation trade could very well happen before trade deadline. Hell, they may decide to tank again for the once in a decade dude.
He seems to be big enough. Dude is huge. If you look at Ant when he was a rookie compared to Sharpe...... it's like Ant was Sharpe's little brother.
That was going in my head last night as well—we at least now know he probably would’ve dominated the college level. There’s Wemby, but after that, Sharpe vs Scoot, Thompson twins, Whitehead, etc is a legit debate.
not a bad idea. Nurk + Hart for Ayton. $ is still tricky though because of our hard cap but manageable if there are some fillers thrown in to make $ work from each side.
I dont want to just gift him minutes but i also dont want him in the gleague. He will get plenty of action during practices going against nba players, which is what he needs. He needs to struggle and make mistakes so he. An learn from them. Learn what to and what not to do in the nba. Travelling and practicing with us i think will better prepare him than the gleague will. If he is smart, he will stay glued to Dames heal and that will be enough for me.
Dame/Sharpe/Winslow/Grant/Nurk Ant/Hart/Little/Brown/Eubanks Thats what should be done with him. IMO.
My pipedream consolidation Some combo of Ant Hart Nas Nurk Brown Eubank Picks for Butler Adebayo Dame GP2 Sharpe Keon JB Winslow Grant Walker Adebayo Watford
Too early to start Sharpe, but long term I am good with that except I like Watford a lot. (Watford over Brown) And I am intrigued by Saar. He moves well for his size
Here's how you handle Sharpe in my opinion: Giving him the playing time he earns based off his performance in practice. Ideally, putting him in positions to succeed as I'm unsure he's ready for adversity. We certainly haven't seen enough in the 3 preseason games that says he has to be a rotation player. We have seen that he could be one though.
Elephant in the room. 3 of the big men projected to be in the rotation are in their walk year. Little: my prediction is that he gets hurt again and the team (quite rightly) wastes no more time on him. Winslow: probably not good enough to worry about, but if he is a pleasant surprise, he will expect more money. It only takes one team with a toxic offer to make him a cap albatross. Grant: who knows. He could also price himself out of Blazers' plans. Bottom line is pretty clear, IMHO. I like Hart. I would start Hart at SG. Sadly, he and Simons are our best trade assets. One of them needs to go to bring in a big man who will be here for awhile.
