Redeem Team does more than restore hoops glory - Robert Mitchell, Tennessee Journalist

I mean...I thought the US won gold that year? Someone please explain, I didn't watch those Olympics at all.

There is a reason why he is a Tennessee journalist and nothing more.

I'm amazed he had time to throw in a VC diss when he was clearly preoccupied giving the Redeem Team (I am so sick of that name) a vigorous reach around. I'll give it to him, the guy can multi task.

    Exactly.

Some writers feel like they'll make a stronger point by using ad hominem. Also, he might feel safe insulting an out of limelight star like Carter and Iverson. Writer is a bandwaggoner.

That's funny since Vince was pretty much the MVP of the 2000 Olympic team. Not to mention he tore it up when he played in the 2003 qualifying tournament for the USA.

He is perceived as an easy target, an easy laugh, because of the general perception about him. You don't have to give any examples, or back it up with stats. All people know is that he went to his HS graduation the day of a playoff game and that he admitted he "didn't try hard all the time" for the Raptors, and that makes him fair game, I guess.

Buddy, this doesnt help the "cause". IMO this hurts him. You are the supposed STAR of the team. You should always strive to be in the starting lineup. Not be complacent.

Buddy, that's the difference between a star and a team. The point of the guys article was that the stars held their egos in check for the better of the team.

As for the article, I really dont care about this article. To even compare AI and VC to Lebron, Wade, and Kobe was stupid.

Please i want to see the VC from those olympics. The aggression and the heart he had in those olympics are long gone. That dunk on Weiss along with the attitude, I will take that any day. I remember those olympics, I actually thought VC was a conceited asshole because of the way he was acting. I regret that prejudgment. I want that VC. Not the watered down version we have now.

I meant to type "BS" graduation--the B and H are right next to each other.

lebron james and dwayne wade lost at international competition twice and kobe never cared to join the usa team until now...

but i was very happy and proud with james' and wade's play and hustle and kobe AGAIN clutch as ever in their most important game of the olympics...why does a writer diss fellow americans who formerly sacrificed to play for the us of a when an injury can cost them millions of dollars and even won the gold at a proud moment like this is beyond me...

IMO VC was the best player on the team when he played in the 2000 Olympics, and the 2003 Qualifying tournament. He shot like 70%, and didn't turn the ball over much. He was asked to score, and he did what he was asked to do. It's not like he jacked up 15+ shots a game, and shot 40% like other players on the current USA team. I do miss the VC from the 2000 Olympics though. He played intense bball back then. If only he could replicate that just a bit more.
