But is a Tillamook native, so he's one of us.

That said, in regards to Mode Center upgrades - there are definitely some improvements that stand to be made now that it's 27. New seats for one - they are showing their age. A new, modern scoreboard for another - we likely have the smallest video screens in the league at this point.

It's not gonna happen either. hell they had a city that doesn't even *have* a team host it (granted, they have plenty of hotel space...but you'd think that the NBA would put cities that actually have teams, including one for 5 decades, ahead of a shiny object).

This combined with almost nothing to do outside of the moda within walking distance.
If they rebuilt AROUND the moda, it would do far more to increase chances than improving the moda itself. The traffic is soooooo bad. but if we had things to do within walking distance after the game i think it would help disperse the traffic. Not everyone is hitting the onramps at the same time. The area around the moda is complete shit.

How sweet would it be if they had a giant roof top bar on the MC.

Make the Moda/MC/CC a small city inside the city. Mono rail transport with the stops at various bars and shops plus venues.
Build upward. Create a Casino/amusement park and have there be access to a number of huge resort style motels.
Everything from swimming to spas and fine dining all in a complete package.

Somebody would find a way to complain about all of that. Somehow?

Legit solid idea. Most cities have just that. That district next to the stadium/arenas.

It actually mostly had to do with not having enough hotel rooms to house the event. That has largely been rectified in the past few years, especially with the Ritz due to open and new hotels near the convention center.

We are ready now, and due, and I expect to get it soon.

Keep the name Portland Trailblazers and move the team across the river to Vancouver where developers understand how to get a thriving downtown waterfront going.

Seriously, I don’t think Portland has ever had a mayor who gave 2 shits about sports. Who was it? Potter? That said that bringing baseball to Portland was absolutely dead last in his priorities? And that was before Portland had the problems it has now.

Lucky to have two professional teams IMO. Oregon just doesn't stack up to nicer states, unfortunately, especially in terms of tax revenue. Even if we did have the taxes we're way too far behind in many, many other areas.

The Blazers are working on big plans for renovation of Moda to prepare for the Women's Final Four. The Iconic roof just got a new coating on it. I personally would love it if they opened up the sides with more glass. The seats most likely will be replaced. But please keep the multi color Blazer theme with the seating. Too many of these renos use just black seats. I love the Moda Center. Ball Arena in Denver is a nice arena, but doesn't let you know where the heck you are. It could be in any city in the world. The bones of the Moda Center are good. The design stands out compared to most cookie cutter designs today. Chase in Frisco, Boring, corporate, can with seats in it. It would be nice to have a little more seat space upstairs. It's tight up there. But i am excited about the Blazers plan for upgrades, both to the team, and the arena. And the big plans for the neighborhood are very exciting. Portland is on it's way back. Those casting stones better worry about their own back yards.

What? I grew up with all of Tom Potters kids. Literally went to kindergarten with Katie. Used to get rides in Tom's police cruiser. Known them all my life. Tom loved sports and loved baseball. He just had much bigger issues to deal with and a police department that was making more money off of selling cocaine/meth than arresting the people selling it to the kids.
Did you happen to forget Vera Katz? Seriously? Lets not even mention Bud Clark?
Portland has had multiple mayors that rallied for sports. That has never been the problem. Ted Wheeler would be all in getting an arena built if fentanyl wasn't killing people and the homeless weren't living all over the streets using it. (yes homelessness is a drug problem).
Now I agree Vancouver is doing a great job but your take on Portland mayors is way off base.
