    Exactly.

I would also worry about a Paul / Roy combo not being better than the sum of the parts.

Do you remember the all star game a few years back, Roys first all star game, where Roy and Paul were the backups? The West was down huge and then Roy and Paul came in, and took over that game, and led a comeback. If you don't, I highly recommend you go back and watch it if it is up somewhere.

I did see it at the time. It was fun to watch.

As I said, I worry about the pair up. Name the last duo of All-NBA caliber guards to pair up and then be successful for multiple years.

I may be a minority but I'd give any one player for Paul. As much as I like Roy, I'd trade him for Paul and not think twice. I'd put Rudy in as the SG and yes, he isn't Roy, but he would do a good job, and, in some ways I think would be more complementary to Paul than Roy would.

Nate's contract is up this year, maybe we can trade him for Paul.

I would do Paul for Roy. I said it earlier this season. Paul is a once-in-a-generation point guard.

Billups and Hamilton come to mind, but of course, they developed into all-star guards together. When was the last time two all-star caliber guards were thrust together period?

Good call, and I would say that worked out quite well.

A finals appearance and a few deep playoff runs, definitely. If they'd had a center worth a damn, they'd have probably ground out a championship.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Honestly, Fez, do you have to be a one-note poster every season? Last year, it was "Oden is the most embarrassing draft bust in NBA history and basically Jamaal Magloire." This year, it's "LMA has no balls because he isn't as good as I want him to be."

Try to mix it up a bit. Save some "This professional athlete who would kick my ass effortlessly if I insulted him to his face has no balls" for next year and give us some more "Oden is the worst draft pick ever" this year. And maybe some new material to boot.

    I didn't say All-STAR.

    I said All-NBA. There is a difference.

Billups - near All-NBA caliber, but never made the team.

    Hamilton - not even close.

    I didn't say All-STAR.

    I said All-NBA. There is a difference.

    Stockton - All-NBA caliber - yes, yes.

Hornacek - not even close. Only a 1 time All-Star.

Stockton brings up an interesting point about a Roy / Paul pairing, of the recent Hall-of-Fame guards, I thnk Kidd and Stockton are two of the most likely to have worked very well with Roy - a ball dominating guard who is All-NBA caliber. Stockton was a good defender, and excellent 3pt shooter and such a willing passer, that he could still make big contributions without the ball in his hand. Kidd was/is such a willing passer and was such an excellent rebounder and defender that he too would still be impacting the game when Roy was doing his thing.

Oden, Rudy, and Bayless for Paul. Throw in fillers like Miller/Przy/Peja to make the #s work.

I would not trade Oden to get Paul, since IMHO one of the biggest reasons to get CP3 is to open up the dominance that could be Oden's offensive game. Also, having two all-star guards and LMA as your biggest "banger" seems to me to be a recipe for disaster.

I'd like not to give up Batum, also, but that's secondary.

Roy and some salary (Miller, Webster, LMA if we're getting a big contract back)? Probably.

On paper I agree with that ... but then you went on to mention "recipe for disaster" and then I got depressed about Greg again. :sigh:
