The minutes go to the guys who win the jobs. The guys can afford to take time off to let a minor nagging injury heal.
Yeah our system switches the PF onto guards a lot. Better to have an Aminu than a Davis in that situation.
I have to think they'll trade Plumlee. I just don't see them paying the $15M he'll get offered next year and we have 4 other guys that can play Center. We could easily fetch a future 1st round pick from a team like Chicago, which will probably be around 20. We could use that pick in a blockbuster trade at the deadline as well.
Biggest thing now is stay healthy. I wanna see this cake in its final form in November fully healthy with no nagging injuries. Worried about our Nigerian contingent in the Olympics
If they're committing to plumlee long term, I could see that. I just don't think they're committed to plumlee. Why else chase multiple bigs
Thing is we could HYPOTHETICALLY still clear some cap space if there's someone else we want to sign (not likely). Right now we're at the line but... If Meyers takes the Qualifying Offer that opens up $3.7M. If we renounce the 2 unguaranteed contracts and sign them later using the room exception, that opens up $1.7M which would give us $5.4M. We also have a logjam in the frontcourt. Trading Plumlee for a 1st Round Pick and it'd give us $8.7M in cap space. If we traded Davis it'd give us a full $12M. There's no one I want to sign for that much. But if there was, trading Plumlee for a 1st round pick and signing a vet that could play in a pinch would set us up even better for a blockbuster trade midseason.
Why is everyone so bent on trading Plumlee? A Center tandem of Plumlee and Ezeli is pretty tight even though neither is a pure starting caliber C. Trade Plumlee have Ezeli's knee go out and then boom what do we have? Meyers Freaking Leonard.
