Gotta agree with mook, the design of these are an abomination. Pink really is a bad color for sports and not because it's supposedly "feminine." If I were in charge of uniforms for a women's sports team, I wouldn't ever select pink. It fits into the pastels, and I think pastels are too soft a set of colors for sports teams logos or uniforms which should be more vibrant. And if your color scheme is red and black, pink looks completely washed out and not a match at all. As for the "thumbprints," even if it's an elevation map of Mount Hood, that doesn't really make a ton of sense in this context just because it's an Oregon thing. It's certainly not obvious and the design just looks like random wavy line noise on the press release. Overall, I wouldn't consider it a good submission in a junior high media relations class. Yes, this is a serious issue. Don't let the naysayers dim your enthusiasm for good design (or lack thereof), mook!
I should've qualified it to exclude hot pink. Even as I wrote my post I thought,"someone will mention Miami or the old Spurs logo." Even hot pink, though, is pretty rare. I'm of course referring to pastel pink. Like Minstrel said, pastels in general are a tough thing to use in sports teams, but pastel pink is the worst. The Blazers brand has always been solid red, solid black (limited greys), and white. It's decidedly weird and gimmicky to do this pink thing.
Didn't Pink Thumbprint and the Shitty Fonts open up for the X, the Dead Kennedy's and the Cramps in 77?
no no dude wrong tour. That was when they opened up for “Sandpaper Sally and the Mattress Back Boys” back in 73’ on the “All Things Shitty in 73’”summer tour.. they were still relatively unknowns then.
Blazers keep delivering the quality: Nothing demonstrates Portland branding better than a crazy dude wiggling through a toilet seat.
