<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Houston:</div><div class="quote_post">the Sonics are playing this smart by just waiting for offers to come and then choosing to match...that way they dont overpay for rad or evans...</div> Yep, a guitar also produces music.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rick Sund:</div><div class="quote_post">"This is a situation where we've taken the posture that Reggie is a free agent and he can sign with any team in the league," "We would consider bringing him back, but so far, what he's seen from us hasn't been to his liking."</div> I just don't think that it is right, or smart for that matter, to treat Reggie like this. Collison will be a nice player, but why just cast RE off like balast? You are talking to the Seattle Times, Sund. At least ACT like you care if he is here or not this season. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Seattle Times:</div><div class="quote_post">All indications lead to Evans accepting the multi-year deal, but before doing so, it appears that after months of waiting , he's going to make them wait for his decision.</div> My source for this is the seattle times monday, oct. 3rd.
i get tired of hearin complaints about "not getting shown respect" or whatever its just stupid. hes a basketball player and the Sonics are a business they shouldnt have to kiss his ass. They offered a fair contract they dont like it Sund told them to go find a better one they cant and their pissed for that.

He is a good player who contributed largely to our success last season. So, when talking with the media, act like he is a good player who contributed to our success last season. Something most fans would like to see again. So say something that might sound like we are doing what we can to bring him back. If not for respect, do it so when he does return he isn't a malcontent.
The big-money offers and trading partners never materialized for Evans in part because at 6 feet 8, he's undersized at power forward and because he's never averaged more than 4.9 points per game for a season. Evans still has several options. He can sign a one-year tender for roughly $1 million, which will allow him to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and sign with any team. He can agree to the Sonics' multi-year deal or find a better deal elsewhere, forcing Seattle to match the offer or let him walk. Or Evans can sit out the upcoming season and perhaps play overseas. All indications lead to Evans accepting the multi-year deal, but before doing so, it appears that after months of waiting , he's going to make them wait for his decision. Source - Seattle Times
He also said he feels disrespected by the Sonics management in that article Shape..He'll still re-sign tho.

I only quoted you because you are the one that brought it up. I was refering to Evans feeling hes being disrespected.

But I'm with Odde on this one as far as the seattletimes article. So Reggie hasn't signed a long-term deal because he thinks he's worth more and the Sonics think he's worth less....is that supposed to be huge news??? Sund could at least have thrown him a bone and said "we really want Reggie back, but right now we are a ways apart in the negotiations" For his part though, Reggie never should have said: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm looking at this like, they are going to take care of the people who they feel is important," Evans said several weeks ago. "Everybody else, well, we got to take what's left. Does that make me feel good? No. But that's how it's always been with me and this team</div> What kills me about this is that this was the team that gave the guy a chance - and before this last season, did he ever deserve a long term deal? I don't think he was close to that level, so the "that's how its always been with me" garbage is a joke. In light of these comments, I don't blame Sund as much - but he still could have spun it a little differently I think.
