I mean, Houston gave up 2 firsts for him. Given who he was before coming here, his value was around two firsts. Everyone wanted Olshey to trade 1sts for a 3-&-D wing and everyone seemingly wanted Covington. Then he does it and everyone is using hindsight against it.
I liked RoCo last year... The trade was worth it. Not sure what the problem is this year. Hopefully just adjusting to the new system.
I don't think this is stated enough. Everyone is adjusting to a completely different way of playing. If we're in the same position around Christmas, then we can start to truly question things. Have to trust that our defensive specialist isn't going to be a borderline liability defensively all season.
where did you get that information? http://www.prosportstransactions.co...ndDate=&PlayerMovementChkBx=yes&Submit=Search I see one first even if Houston did overpay, that doesn't justify Portland overpaying, if they did besides that, in RoCo trades, incoming and outgoing, the Rockets sent out two first's and Capela, and got back two first's and Christian Wood
I always counted Capela as a first since that's what Atlanta gave up for him. Minnesota got two firsts. Wood was a free agent signing in a sign-and-trade. Completely different.
LOL...c'mon man by the same 'olshey-can-do-no-wrong' logic you're using, the Blazers gave up 2 first's AND 2 second's for RoCo because they traded two 2nd's for 21 games of Ariza before trading Ariza and two first's for RoCo
Ariza and a 1st isn't as valuable as Capela in my opinion. I'm just saying I remember what Minny got back for RoCo and it was two 1sts. That was the widely accepted asking price for a forward of that caliber. Aaron Gordon fetched a 1st and R.J. Hampton (a rookie who had just been taken in the 1st).
He's seems to be very confident in his shooting and that's the reason I would start him over Nance at this point. Nance doesnt seem to have the confidence in is shot be he sure contributes in the other ways.
Just an observation. A fan sees RoCo play a couple of times a year, looks at his stats, and thinks that is a guy they would like to have. (guilty as charged) A GM is supposed to F'n know better! Saying we over-paid for RoCo is only hindsight for the fans. Olshey is well paid to know this stuff. If he is as dumb/ignorant as I am, that just proves we need a better GM.
RoCo has better career stats with steals, blocks, 3pt% and FT% than Larry. Nance is more effective down low and with assist.
If RoCo could shoot anywhere close to what he has the last couple of games, the Blazers would be dangerous. (and Dame gets out of his funk-which I know he will)
