I think Demers has been pretty good filling in for Wheels. Obviously nobody can bring it like Wheels can.
Just got back from visiting Wheels. He looks and sounds good and says Hi to everyone but @HCP. I brought him a card from all of you but he's been a bit bored and unfortunately has been reading the forum. Please take a moment to wish him a quick recovery. I know it would mean a lot to him. I got to watch some playoff baseball and Monday Night Football with Wheels. Talk about fun. The people Wheels has met and the stories he has are amazing.
I am glad to hear that Wheels is on the road to recovery. The guys who have filled in have done their best, but there’s only one Wheels. I’m looking forward to hearing him call the games again soon. Get better and get back to that microphone ASAP.
Get well soon Wheels! I aspire to your overall professionalism on and off the mic, so I'm excited for these health issues to be behind you so that you can grace our ears again! It would be awesome to interview you for True Blazer Fan at some point, and if you're ever interested, you know where to find me!
Get well Wheels, there is nobody and I mean nobody we love and respect within the organization like you. And yes that's a jab at the @HCP.
Wow your nights been so much more awesome than mine, all I did was talk about software / operating system developement. Thats awesome to hear he’s doing well, hope his recovery continues to go well and glad you two got to have a nice evening together.
He likes it? Man, he must be getting some good meds! (wonder who is favorite poster is? I bet it's (not) me!)
When I lived in Sacramento, Brian's show, Wheels at Work, was my favorite show. A great afternoon drive time show. He also called Monarch's games, and I would only listen to those when I did because of him. I moved here a year after Wheels did and knew that the broohaha over him taking Shonley's place would blow over once people listened to him and got to know him. Listening to Wheels call a game is the best. Reminds me of Chick Hearn, and that is the ultimate compliment. Get well soon buddy, we need you!
I remember the real dislike people had for him, replacing Schonz. There are still some who haven't let go of the fantasy of an almost 90 year old Schonz doing play by play. People HATED on Rice when he first arrived, and then he became a legend. Same with Wheels. It's only a matter of time when Calabro becomes fully accepted (cept by those who are incapable of moving on).
