I have one real goal in my life outside of raising my kids and being a good husband. The goal is to create or do something that brings happiness for other people. When I look at what wheels has done, I think its safe to say that he has done just that for many people he will never meet and I admire that. I hope he realizes if he decided to walk away from the microphone today he would do so having made a positive impact on many thousands of people, and that Blazer fans appreciate him not just as a radio commentator but as a man.
PS please dont quit, I want him back!

Love ya Wheels. Glad you got that behind you.

Literally nothing like listening to Wheels do a blazer game. We're spoiled having the best.

Since when does fetching drinks for The Wild One constitute “friendship”?

So there I was Sunday night. I turned on the Blazers game halfway through the third quarter (the fucking DVR recorded the blacked out NBA TV listing instead of the CSNW broadcast so I missed most of the game. How fucking stupid is that? But I digress.)

As the quarter was coming to a close, I was thinking the Utah announcers weren't that bad. Then I slowly began to realize, to my utter shock: I wasn't listening to the Utah announcers. Those were the Blazers announcers.

    Yeah.

One of these is not like the others. One of these is different from the rest. Hint: it's the last one.

You're right. Wheels replaced a legend (Mike Barrett wasn't a legend).

Colabro is more like Mike Rice, who replaced Geoff Petrie. Mike was a seasoned pro who worked for ESPN and had worked in the field for a long time and was well respected before he worked for Portland.

Both of them replaced a mediocre broadcaster. It took a while for the fans to warm up to Mike Rice's character (two words: Swami Rice).

Hell, people didn't like Mike Barrett when he first took over for Pete Pranica (and later Steve Jones).

WHAT? Pete Pranica was the worst.

Unfortunately for Calabro the NBA game is too fast for him to keep up anymore. Way too many mistakes.

How is Demers doing? Haven't and won't get a chance to listen to him. Really cool guy, wishing him the best.
