Ok so he's been above average for three of his four years in the league. Find me someone better for the same money then.
If Biggie can make a dent in our lineup... just to be a contributor, that would be a huge difference. Can't wait to see him in action.
This! I was like WTF when he started talking about Nurk. I was really happy that the reporter asked the clarifying question about when the set back happened. I think NO just explained it poorly, because it came off as bad.
Why? Don't we already have way too much money tied up in the shooting guard position? It's the reason we won't have the full MLE in the first place. The guy is an average to slightly above average 3-point shooter that does nothing else well. He's been in the league for four full seasons, was handed the starting SG role in SAC and lost the starting job to Arron Afflalo. He addresses zero needs and would be a redundant version of what we already have - only worse. BNM
Per spotrac, total salaries for next year are presently $140M, plus an additional 4.5M for the picks (although that will probably be 5.4M once they actually sign). Tax line is $119M. So we need to cut over $25M in salary to be below the tax line and have the full MLE available for use. Cutting Ezeli saves 6.7M, Connaughton and Quarterman could be another 2.8M combined (9.5M total). Still need to cut around 16M after that.
He's a career .352 3-point shooter that plays the same position as C.J. (.413 career 3FG%) and Crabbe (.411 career 3FG%). So, yeah in this case, McLemore's shooting addresses zero needs. I'd rather pick up Connaughton's $1.4 million option (.407 career 3FG%) than blow our MLE on Ben McLemore. BNM
Hmm, yeah that's gonna be tough to do within the next week or so. Probably not worth it when even the full MLE doesn't guarantee a rotational player.
