Why does the conversation always center around the team needs to be sold? Jody seems to really care about the team. She’s ALWAYS at the games, there’s owners in the league that don’t even go to games. All she has to do is hire a new GM and back off. I’m excited for the future. This current era is super played out and boring. Think about it, our road record is up there with the rockets and pelicans damn near 20 games into the season. We’ve seen plenty. I hope we fire Neil soon, hire a new young up and coming Gm talked about around league circles, head into the trade deadline being sellers. The sooner the better
First of all, this is the first i have conversed about this, so not sure where this “ always has to center around” is coming from. But to answer your question…. because I'm concerned about how much jodi knows. She may be a fan and care but unless she puts the right people in the right spots, the gm search and hire could take a while and them still fail. What is her basketball reach into the elite minds of the game? Or is she relying on others to qualify the next gm and who are they? Its not as easy as hire another gm and get out of the way. That's a gross oversimplification. There is no guarantee a new gm makes better decisions or deals with the cap situation better. There is no guarantee trading Dame for picks makes us better down the road. We could easily enter a decade long losing streak.
Absolutely, there are no guarantees in life....except we are guaranteed that this roster is not contending now, in the past, or anytime soon. The decade long mediocrity has run it's course. This roster needs a serious revamping. That doesn't mean I want to trade Dame, but at the same time, if we did, we wouldn't win any less Playoff series than we have for the majority of the past 10 years.
Failure is always an option, but too many Blazer fans have come to accept it as inevitable. Also, I would suggest retiring the "generational talent" notion. Were Dame or Roy considered "generational talents" when they were drafted? You know who was - Oden and Zion. Is it that hard to find NBA professionals who understand the difference?
good points but injuries played a factor in Oden and i was never sold on Zion from the get go. With that said, of course one can get lucky and nail a Klay Thompson or giannis, but no one knew they would be that good at draft time. The draft is a gamble. So is keeping Dame, trading cj for other pcs and running it for a few more years. With a new coach id rather make the trade for cj than Dame.
You also said you thought we would win 30 games this season. Total. So.. of course you want a rebuild.
Wow, a lot of people were banking on last night's game against Golden State to be a win for the Blazers. I think that's the segment HCP was lovingly calling "nutcases."
