If I had the money I'd live in Sausilito on the water. 2nd choice would be Mercer Island on the water. Next comes Lake Oswego on the water. So, now I live farther on down the list in Lake Oswego not too far from the water.
My wife and I have retired to a 2,700 square foot home and it's too small at times when my wife wants me to hear about all of my faults apparently of which there are quite a few.
Try Fanny Bays. That's the name of a bay on Vancouver Island, British Columbia and it's the name of an oyster company. Their oysters taste like the ocean smells. Love them. They are my second favorite oyster on the half shell that I've ever had. Can't recall the best because I only had them once. The best might possibly have been the Kushis that someone in here recommended. A few tips: Make sure your oysters on the half shell are the smallest size they've got; Have a carbonated beverage with them. We usually have beer with ours but I once had a very expensive bottle of champagne with ours and it complimented the oysters even better than the champagne; Make sure your oysters come from a restaurant that shucks them good. nothing worse than getting oyster shell in your mouth when slurping one of those babies; Try Fanny Bay. They are awesome. Oysters on the half shell are best when served on a bed of crushed ice; For those who've never had them, try a couple beers on an empty stomach first and then they'll go down easy. This is for first timers; My favorite condiments are: cocktail sauce, lots of lemon juice, some horse radish sauce, especially fresh grated, a dash of tobasco ssauce.
I lived in Marin county and spent plenty of time in Sausalito, (I lived in San Anselmo) - Marin county is beautiful, but the geography and when it was built means that you are living in The 21st century in a place that has the infrastructure for the 1950s, even if one can afford it, it is pretty miserable to commute or go get groceries there. I liked the people a lot and how it looked, but I was very happy that we left in 2013 or thereabout
I'm retired and do precious little commuting. Besides, why would any retired person want to commute in Sausilito?
Mercer Island your neighbors would include Jody Allen and Jeff Bezos. Town must have impressive tax base.
Probably the wealthiest place in Washington. They have their own private security force and homes on the lake to die for. My lead engineer used to live there. He was once the director of Sky Lab, if you remember that. Went from the LA area to Boeing where he started as a fourth level manager. Worked his way down to third, second, first and then lead engineer. Son of a bitch stabbed me in the back. My boss saw what was going on but his hands were tied by upper management. Last time I talked to that boss and after I was transferred to work on airplanes, my ex boss said this creep was demoted from lead engineer to just plain engineer. Anyhow, this creep lived in a beautiful home on Lake Washington on Mercer Island. He took ski trips to Switzerland.
He was snowing you. "The" director of Skylab would have been almost the Associate Administrator of NASA. Maybe he was "a" director in the Skylab program.

Last time I went to Portugal, TAP had a big strike that fucked everything up. I flew British Airways but, probably staying away from TAP.
