<div class="quote_poster">Brian Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">You shouldn't just pick a team to root for just because you want to root for a team. Pick one that's right for you</div> I did pick the Milwaukee Bucks. Then I relised how small the city was, and nobody attends their games and they have very little fans. Feels like I am the only Buck fan in the world. They have one of the lowest attendance ratings this year. Seems like I can never just stick with one team
I chose the Raptors because I live in Toronto lol. I like teams like Phoenix and San Antonio, I like watching their styles (Phoenix's offense, and San Antonio's teamwork on both ends) but its hard for me to see more than 4 regular season games of those teams. Playoffs they get more coverage, although they often are late games.

But now I relise how unpopular the Bucks are, I want to root for another team along side them. Its much harder for me to pick a NBA team to root for, because I dont live in any of their hometowns. So cut me some slack Bulls and Raptors have a big fan base. Bulls have a very good attendance record and always average over 20,000 fans at their games. So I thought they would be good. But I am still very unsure.
<div class="quote_poster">Chutney Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Yea, that's true. On the other hand, I'd say NY probably has the strongest home fanbase.</div> that has to be the Lakers. everyone in L.A. talks about the Lakers. far from everyone in NYC talks about the Knicks. That would be the Yankees.

I want to have a favourite team also. I really like the Bucks, but they are just not popular anywhere. Even the homecrowd hates them....... I just cant decide which team is perfect for me.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to go by revenue for this question, considering a good majority of fans show support with money. Whether it be tickets or merchandise, most fans are going to hand over some amount of cash to their favorite franchise. And if they don't, they're contributing to the team's revenue in terms of TV and Radio ratings, which produce millions in advertising revenue for the franchise. If you agree with that, then the biggest fan base would be the Knicks. (http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/32/biz_06...ns_Revenue.html) And considering the fact that the NYC metro area is by far the largest in the US, then that's easy to agree with. It's hard to judge the impact that the worldwide NBA fanbase would make upon the rankings, but it's hard to believe they would change it very much. Their impact is already factored into merchandise sales, just not ticket sales and TV ratings. But the top teams on the list already sellout most nights and also already have huge TV deals, so the rankings would likely stay the same.
Hmmm ok then, I will make it abit easier. Since I dont live in America I wouldnt know this, So I need you guys to answer it. Can you please list all 30 teams, from the biggest city to smallest city. So the city with the biggest population would be number 1, city with the smallest population would be 30 etc..... Thanks..
NO DOUBT CHICAGO WE LOVE OUR BASKETBALL HERE we a big city obviously not the biggest but we have highest attendance and one thing u cant find online after jordan era when our team STANK when we were worst in NBA, the arena was STILL selling out we got ALOT of die hard fans here no doubt about it this isnt chicago bias just yesterday with pistons vs bulls they said bulls have the highest home attendance out of any teams so CHEEEEEEEEEA Sacremento is a big city for that to

Even though I do not like many of the players on the Bulls roster, I will still just go for the team itself. Luol Deng is ok though.

You can just go for the team itself, even if you dont like anybody on the Roster. I actually do like Deng also, and Gordon is not too bad. But if all your favourite Bulls left the team, you would still be a Bulls fan no matter what. Kinda the same for me, dosnt matter whos on the Roster I will still like them.

If you don't care much for the players, it's going to be hard to cheering for the team. You should pick a team based on your current favorite players. Kobe and the Lakers are a good option. Bryant is always fun to watch in the playoffs (not saying he isn't in the regular season.) Or how about the Suns?

You don't even know what team to follow yet. I've been following the Bulls since the 1980's so of course I'm going to be a fan for life even if the players I like have left, but Pax has done a fantastic job in rebuilding the franchise. I don't think you know much if anything at all of our organization.

But they are not very good, and dont have a big fan base. So I said to myself, instead of watching the Bucks lose all these games, I want another team to cheer for with a big fan base. I only like eastern conference teams. I have always originally liked the Bulls and Raptors, but never been a real fan of them. So I cant go wrong with the Bulls and their big fan base, good players and coaches.
Hey if you like a lot of international players on one team then go with the Toronto Raptors. The city is multicultural and so is the team. We have Jose Calderon and Jorge Garbajosa from Spain, Andrea Bargnani from Italy, Rasho Nesteravic from Serbia I believe and Anthony Parker played over-seas most of his career for an Isreali team I think. We also have a strong fan base, seeing as how we are the only team in Canada. You have a whole country rooting with you and if you read any NBA.com articles online you know how passionate the fans are. The team just came out of losing seasons to make the playoffs with a bright group that is sure to continue to improve. So if you are going for a winning team also, this is another bonus. The Raptors are 3rd in the East and I expect them to remain around that numbre for years to come.

He really wants Canada to be more involved with NBA. Since Toronto/Canada is stuck to America forever, he wants to make the most of it. I might just go for 3 teams here. Bucks/Bulls/Raptors sounds good. I will be a fan of these 3 teams, and a fan of all my other favourite players.
Dude you can't be a fan of three nba teams. You can root for other teams but their has to be a "main" team. Its kind of a unwritten rule, eventually you will favor one over the other whether you like it or not. Go for the Bucks, don't just root for a team because it "sells tickets" or its "contenders". The Bucks will be good in a couple years, the true fans are the ones who stick around during the teams toughest years. Pistons could not sell tickets between '99-'02, I enjoyed not having to pay as much for tickets.

I do not live in America or Canada, so its much harder for me to pick a team to go for. You guys root for teams because you live in their home town or you were born there. I do not have that option, I am Australian which makes it much harder for me to pick a team. Understand where I am coming from?
