Built a good shooting backcourt surrounding a strong frontcourt....a pretty sound and strong defensive squad....especially with those two monsters down there waiting for people

    G - Maurice Cheeks
    G - Andrew Toney
    F - Julius Erving
    F - Marc Iavaroni
C - Moses Malone (Franchise Player)

We could have had 5 championships by now but no we had to trade the #1 pick in the draft, along with Malone for Jeff Ruland and Cliff Robinson...?

Anyway this is the lineup I would have, looks mighty familar eh?

To answer the question, I'd go with the 95-96 Bulls. That's my team, with Jordan as the "franchise player."

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NYCfinest123:</div><div class="quote_post">at least gilbert arenas is much better than the guy in your sig, and wtf is wrong with him? im a arizona wilcats fan and a gilbert arenas fan why cant i put him as my second option</div>

Well first of all, Jameer Nelson is only in his second year in the league and I never said that he was better then Gilbert Arenas. He might not be as good as Arenas yet but that's exactly why I like him. You have to root for the short guy who gives his all and has had to overcome so many obstacles just to get where he is today. Oh and by the way, my signature had nothing to do with this entire debate so the fact that you brought it up is kinda weird.

The reason I called your post a homer post was because of all players in the league, you choose Arenas to lead your team? You have guys like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O' Neal, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to choose from. These players are all better then Gilbert Arenas and I wouldn't even select Arenas if I could only choose from current NBA players. Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter and Paul Pierce are all players I would choose over Arenas.

    C- Shaquille O'Neal
    PF- Rasheed Wallace
    SF- Dan Majerlie
    SG- Micheal Jordon/Joe Dumars
    PG- Mark Price

If I couldn't have MJ and Shaq I'd take Joe Dumars instead of MJ. The backcourt would be a little small, but that never stopped the Bad Boys. Gives me a defensive specialist/shooter(Majerlie), bigman who can do some dirty work and hit a 3(Sheed), a dominant 2 guard, a PG who can sink a 3 and work the offense, and the MDE.(Shaq)

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting fatballer_10:</div><div class="quote_post">I would start with Michael Jordan of course, you cannot go past the greatest of all time. So, my team would look something like this.

    C - Hakeem Olajuwon
    PF - Charles Oakley
    SF - Scottie Pippen
    SG - Michael Jordan
    PG - John Stockton

All these players are excellent at their respective positions. All are unselfish and willing to do the hard work. They can all play defence, pass the ball run fundamental plays and work well in a team environment. All have been coached by excellent coaches and all know what it takes to win. They may not be the flashiest team, but they would dominate. Add some role players like, Joe Dumars, Sam Perkins, Ben Wallace and you would be set. An unbeatable dynasty in the making!!!!</div>

Why in the heck would u pick charles oakley?? he sucks!!

A roster of KG, ET, Latrell and Wally wasn't talented?

Kevin Garnett had a lot of talent around him for a while, not so much now though.

This is a really hard question that provokes alot of thought. The more I began thinking about starting a team, certain qualities became very important among others. I'd want a player that makes everyone on the court with him a better player. I'd want a player that has the versatility to play multiple positions at a high level, as well as a player versatile enough to create for others as well as himself. A high basketball IQ is essential as well as great instincts on the court and a winning mentality.

These qualities I was looking for led me ultimately to one player. I would start my team with Magic Johnson as the player to build around. I Understand that many people will disagree with me, but there is no right answer. I'd have to give my honorable mention to Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Wilt, and Akeem.

With Magic to build around, I began thinking about players to compliment him. The first thing I need is a low-post scoring threat. I like unselfish players that put themselves aside for the better of the team. Seeing that it would be unrealistic to put Akeem, Duncan, Shack, or any other players that were easily their teams best player as my 2nd player, I went with another teams 2nd best player. Kevin McHale will man the pivot for me at the PF position. The next thing that I need is a defensive perimeter stopper that is not a liability on the offensive end. Somebody who can guard anyone at the 1,2, or 3 positions effectively. Scottie Pippen is who I want playing the SF position, simply for his lanky defense and ability to pass the ball and score in transition. Some may argue that Pippen is a superstar that should not be available for my 3rd player, but he is a career 16 point scorer, who was helped immensly by playing along side of Michael Jordan for most of his career. If you think this selection is too much, then put in Larry Nance or James Worthy (3rd best players on their teams) in his place. I now have some big voids to fill at the Center and Shooting guard positions as well as a bench. I'll shorten this post by simply putting some notes next to my remaining players. My team.......

C- Artis Gilmore (One of the under-rated shot blockers and rebounders of all-time and a 60% career FG%)
    PF- Kevin McHale
SF- Scottie Pippen (or Larry Nance or James Worthy)
SG- Jeff Hornacek (Spot up shooter to compliment the creativity of Magic, McHale and Pippen on offense, liability on defense)
    PG- Magic Johnson

    <u>Bench</u>
C- Mark Eaton (Just stand close to the rim with your arms straight up Mark)
PF- Kevin Willis (Tough guy, decent scorer, intimidating presence)
SF- Bruce Bowen (Another Perimeter defender who can spot up in the corner)
SG- Ricky Pierce (Instant offense off the bench)
PG- Johnny Moore (Could run my team any day before dessert fever struck)
PF/C- Kurt Rambis (Energy and toughness willing to use fouls)
G- Brevin Knight (Just knows how to run a team)

Yes they were, and guess what, they got to the WCF that year. Last season, Latrell and Sam played no where close to where they did in the 03-04 season, and they were constant distractions.

    C - Wilt Chamberlain
    PF - Robert Horry
    SF - Rashard Lewis
    SG - Joe Dumars
    PG - Magic Johnson

The hardest pick was the SG spot..I needed someone who could score off the dribble and play defense AND not be a superstar. Wilt would obviously be the franchise player with Magic as the secondary star elevating Horry and Lewis' games. Shard is in there to provide a perimeter threat and Horry is added for clutchness.

    What do you guys think?
