From what I thought the Original Christians believed is that they had to fast 40 days from Sunset to sundown kind of like the Muslims do in Ramadan.

It's all forbiden. On the day of judgement if you're good deeds outweight your bad deeds you will enter heaven. If not, you will enter hellfire. It doesn't matter if that person is Muslim/Christian/Hindu. Now it says in the Quran that the person who has even the least bit of Faith will enter heaven eventually. It all depends on your deeds and what you did in your life. To say "he's going to hell" because he drinks beer is forbidden.
