What if I were to wait just 4 short months and Heidi Klum was all mine? and she's got a championship ring on her finger? Again, the problem is you're calling RJ, VC or GW Jessica Alba... And they aren't... That is unless your opinion of her isn't as high as your're insinuating. We had no offers or deals in the works for an all star. Are you saying alba is just a borderline all star?
I don't know of any specific deals that were passed on, and you don't either. I guess I don't understand your post.
All I know is I renewed my season tickets already to guarantee my seats for the playoffs - and I for one am going to enjoy the rest of the regular season and our return to the postseason!
My point is that you can't expect people to explain their positions on whether or not they are pissed about today using specific examples of deals that were suggested. That's a silly point, because none of us know what was talked about. We can only assume that reported rumors have some amount of truth to them, and we can only rely on things that KP has said ("I must have sent over 1,000 emails to Paul Allen in the last week about specific deals", etc.) to determine whether or not anything viable was on the table. -Pop
So, in summation: A) KP is a genius, but we have no assets anybody wants in a trade. B) These same players who nobody else wants will win a title if we just "let it bake." Sorry, but I am SICK of the BS on here today. Anybody who denies being disappointed that we didn't make a trade, needs to put down the crack pipe. Why do people feel the need to rationalize and make excuses when bad things happen?
Nope. If a deal would have helped now AND in the future, a deal would have been made. It wasn't made...so we didn't make a deal. What's the problem?
I'm disappointed that Portland didn't get a very good player for a cheap price. What is your opinion on what caused that result, that there were wonderful deals out there and Pritchard is too stupid and/or hateful of his own team to take them? I'm not rationalizing anything. Based on past performance, I believe Pritchard is at least competent. If this competent GM, knowing all the things we know, didn't make a deal, the simplest explanation seems to be that there wasn't a deal that he felt bettered the team's circumstances. What about that position do you find dubious or BS?
who's saying we have no assets anybody wants in a trade? of course we have guys people want that doesn't mean we make a deal just because. that's the story of today, there were no deals that blew them away so we stand pat with what we have. was i disappointed about 1/394,934 of what some of you around here are. sure, i think as fans we always want to be moving and shaking. we want to be on ESPN and seeing our logo up there but it doesn't always happen. have some patenice and enjoy the ride.
his post was stupid. i think we already knew what he said. we're just giving honest assesments of what transpired today, which is supreme disappointment. oh look, its not raining. rep me dammit!
haha, I guess some guys around here aren't tired of missing the playoffs and/or getting bounced in the first round. I'm happy our team is coming together, but damn I'm so sick of people saying wait another 2-3 years
exactly!!! that shit has been shoved down my throat for to long now. forget rise with us, its more like "wait 2 years with us"
Get used to it. This year we had the built-in excuse of Martell's injury and "no good offers for RLEC." Next year it will be something else. "Teams were reluctant to take our offers because of the economy." "We added more rookies to the lineup who need time to develop." "We think there are some big names we can go after in the summer of 2010." "We're not ready to challenge the Lakers, Spurs, Cavs, Celtics." Just wait. I guarantee you you'll hear some excuse at this time next year for not making any significant additions between now and then. -Pop
why is losing in the first round now unacceptable? that was the goal going into the season and should still be the goal. teams don't go from being out of the playoffs to winning it all in one season without major shakeups and that is very rare. there is a progression to this and you can't just skip the steps and win now. there was no one out there that was going to make us a contender this season, so why do it? from the beginning it sounded like they wouldn't make moves unless someone blew them away, obviously they didn't get blown away? some of you need to back away from the keyboard and get some air.
Getting ousted in the first round will not be a failure. But failing to be competitive in the first round will be a huge disappointment and will do nothing for the growth of the team. I fear if we end up in the 7th-8th seed, we're staring down the barrel of a sweep. -Pop
Thanks, I like you too, and all of my posts are purely motivated by theoretical rep. If you're always looking for something to complain about, you'll probably find something. Right now, it just happens to sunk to the level of dissing on a thread.
Okay, so you kick your high-school sweetheart and soulmate to the curb and go off and bang Jessica Alba for a few months. After about a year the novelty of it has worn off and you realize the relationship is purely sexual. You start to think you made a mistake. You're complete opposites. Then Jessica dumps you for some movie-star douchebag. After a weekend long drinking binge you try to call your ex-wife, but you just make a fool of yourself and she gets a retraining order. A year later you hear she's happily married and your drinking problems get worse. You finally decide to put a bullet in your head and end the misery. Your last thought is how good you had it with your ex, but for some reason you thought you could be happier than happy.
