(CNN)The White House announced Thursday evening that Qassim al-Rimi, the leader of terror group al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, was killed in an airstrike in Yemen.

CNN reported last week that the US conducted a strike targeting Rimi, who led the terror group's franchise based in Yemen that has repeatedly expressed interest in conducting attacks targeting the United States, a US official said. The Pentagon did not comment when asked at the time about the report.
The US government had offered a $10 million reward for information on Rimi.

Sin nature dictates it will never be "solved" (if you believe in that stuff), but the concept is that holding bad guys at bay long enough to get some semblance of functioning society in place is worth fighting for?

There's a reticence to be "the world's police force", and I very much get that. I don't get, though, the concept of "because that really bad dude is far away and only killing people who don't look like me and setting up a society of oppression and evil, I don't have to worry about it" doesn't sit well with me.

I've said for 25 years I don't know why we weren't more prevalent in Rwanda or Sudan, helping the UN fight genocide. :dunno:

I'm losing count. This is a better approach than past approaches, from my perspective. Target the leaders, the very top guys, and kill them. No massive wars killing innocents. Just keep lopping off the head of the snake. We have the technology, and the special teams.

And most of Africa and parts of South America have similar, less publicized groups who could use some attention despite not being oil country.

The new terrorist leader face on the world stage is one of impotent cowards being eliminated from the top down by President Trump and America's servicemen/women. Not the dashing virgin-laying image they need for recruiting purposes.

Quite a few job openings for "Supreme Leaders" these days. I hear they have a serious turnover problem.

Hard to find qualified and willing job candidates, the housing and health benefits are shit, and oh yeah, Trump keeps killing them off once they do fill the position.

The root cause is bad people have been allowed to murder Americans for political purposes and live to recruit and repeat.

The root cause is being eliminated.

Do you at least have dreams? Because, if not, that's a little sad. You've got to have some outlet to visualize better things in life.

The root cause is in fact not being eliminated. There is always the eventuality that someone else steps up to become the big dog, when a head is lopped off. Coackroaches can live without a head. You gotta go for the heart not the head.

Apparently you are struggling, disillusioned and feeling victimized by life. I've never faced that situation, it must be depressing as hell.

At age 65, through a life of hard work, personal responsibility, wise decisions, daring risks, and unbending determination, I have transformed all of my childhood dreams into reality. Each and every one of them.

Only possible in America, The Land of The Free and The Brave.

I am living the dream here in Beautiful Central Oregon. It's a truly rewarding feeling of attaining happiness through continual effort.

Blessed with the best wife and family and dogs and friends anyone could ever have, living in a nice home on a gorgeous piece of land in the best part of the best state (geologically and biologically speaking), in the freest country in the world, I'll leave the dreaming and fantasizing to the young and the discontented.

As someone who kills roughly one snake a year by lopping off it's head, I know better. (They like to eat the fish in my pond)

As long as you behead them, they will die after an hour or so.

As long as you kill them when they appear, the numbers stay controllable.

So, your answer is you have no hopes and dreams? That's a little sad. My sympathies. Even at 65, you should still have ambitions, dreams and desires. Don't give up just because you're older!

You are the one with no hopes and dreams, because by definition they are the absence of success, contentment and happiness.

I have succeeded in attaining my dreams and fantasies. I am happy and content.

A person who feels they have attained everything lacks ambition. But I guess at your age, that's allowed. No matter how good my life is now, I continue to hope and work for more. Not even necessarily just for myself, but also for the world around me. Yes...that'll do nicely for my Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech.

Pretty sure Jared Kushner is winning it this year, but maybe next year?

Honestly, that would be bullshit. I can honestly say that I've done as much for Middle East peace over the past three years as Jared Kushner. It should at least be shared between us and anyone else who did as much for peace as Kushner.

Men are not snake reptiles, well, except for Trump.
