Politics White Nationalist Rally turns to violence and terrorism

I don't go to protests any more because I don't think they are very useful, but there have been ones in the past that meant a lot. Will this one? I will say there are a couple benefits that i do see. 1) it gathers people together to participate and have a voice. Community is very important as well as freedom of speech. This supports both I hope. 2) It shows the white supremacists that they are in the minority by a large amount. I guarantee there will be whites, blacks, hispanics, Muslims, Jews, Asians and much more all coming together at these rallies around the US. The Nazis were able to get 1500 of their clan together, but showing them that 1500 is minuscule is important.

However, if violence breaks out it can undue any positives that could come from these encounters.

Excellent post Sly! Right down the middle. The essence of this thread is the politics of the day and rude is the tactics skill fully employed to force people to say the political right thing.
This whole thread is about impressing allies and shaming foes to avoid insults. Only insults not earned by rules of the game are edited.

I see what you are saying but I feel like majority of people already know that the supremacy rally was just wrong and those people are fucked up. I don't know, it just seems most protests these days are over nothing or odn't really prove anything because violence always ends up occuring plus I don't know what anybody is trying to say or prove. It's not like these people are in the minority. The white supremacists are in the major minority

I doubt they do. I am glad they don't vote for Democrats, even though they are so few.

 

I may be on the more liberal side, but I have many friends who are Republicans and none of them are remotely pro KKK or Nazi. One good friend who was admittedly a Never-Trumper and historically a Republican has told me he's done with Republicans and will vote Libertarian or some other 3rd party from here on out. Still won't come over to the Dark Side (Liberal Side) but I'll keep trying.

It's what confuses me so much about all this support for Trump. He's not a conservative, he's not even a real Republican. He is offensive and stands for so many things that conservatives traditionally don't. But people have teams.

 

"All the appeal" boils down to a deeply conservative Supreme Court selection and a pen to sign (they hoped) passage of Paul Ryan's agenda. People will accept a lot to get what they want politically.

 

I doubt it. Never said it either. Still, as few as they are, I am please they don't vote for Democrats.

 

Same. They would mix badly at the secret Democratic voting booths where we have millions of undocumented immigrants vote.
