There has been plenty of violence initiated by both sides. Nobody in here is supporting that.

That is a straw man argument.

The media showing people opposing racism and bigotry is a good thing.

If we give them that little corner, they grow and grow as more join. And soon, it won't just be that little corner. It becomes cities and states. It becomes a major political party that votes in people supportive of their ideologies.

    We can't have that

making a statement is not arguing.
The thread resurfaced i skimmed through again and decided i would clarify my position.
No one is arguing that statement i made but you. And you started out agreeing while disagreeing… just to argue…

    You just like to argue…

The media showing people opposing racism is good thing I agree. A necessary thing.

I think maybe he is arguing that it only helps their cause though. Giving them attention. Is it true? It's a good argument. They have hijacked a major political party and had their guy in white house and have supporters of their cause in government positions at the state and federal level across the country.

But, I guess when you have a guy like Trump become president and embolden all these people, that media coverage really doesn't matter. Well, unless you consider that Trump vilified the media for calling him out, underming it, and boosting the cause of the alt right.

according to some they are growing anyhow.

Im not quite sold on this. If they are actually growing to become the majority to vote their kind in, that would mean over half the population is racist and i dont believe that to be true at all.
So they take over idaho and north dakoda. Not nearly enough electorals to push their agenda on the nation and they can live in their own racially hatred state and not intermingle with the rest of us. let them develop their own one or two out of 50 states and go live by them selves.

I have enough faith in humans that most would see them as the issue and want nothing to do with whatever state they choose to unite in.

    They really havent.

there is not a majority of republicans that are racist. That's just nonsense hyperbole internet and fake news propaganda.
Trump didnt become president because racists voted him in.
Racists have almost always voted conservative since they stopped voting blue.
doesn't matter who the republicans tossed out there the racist voters would have voted for them.
    Ludicrous.

Yeah, but why did it get to that point?

Because we allowed news and radio stations to report opinions as news. This encouraged large corporations to buy them up and indoctrinate millions of shift workers and seniors who listen/watch all day, every day.

Then when these people they listen to actually do go too far with their lies and get into legal trouble they actually admit to the judge that it's just entertainment and they are just playing a role.

That happened because we weren't vocal enough about it. We just watched them in the corner like they were no threat.

    Then we got Trump.

We need higher journalistic standards, we need campaign finance reform, and in order to get that we're going to have to protest and fight at every front. It needs to be public.

How can it possibly change if it's not?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I agree with you. A majority of Republicans aren't racist. However, a majority of Republicans are willing to look away while race-baiting (or, less commonly, outright racist) candidates win elections for their party.

Just to clarify--a majority is not every Republican.

"Politician X isn't a racist, he/she just panders to racists to win the election."

Bull Dada! If I applaud my neighbor for flying a nazi flag and harassing the lesbian couple down the street, I am just as guilty as he is. You are who you associate with.

i would possibly agree for the second time around. Not the first time though. I think the first time around the majority of voters didn't have race or racial prejudice as a prethought at all.

proof of racism though. The proof is suspect. Just as suspect as me calling a person here a man hater even though she has made explicit comments that lean hard core towards man hating.
Do i think she is a man-hater? No. But some of her posts come off that way.
And thats how his racism is judged…
    With suspect, judgmental opinions…

The label “racism” should not be tagged without absolute real proof. And there is none. Just circumstantial evidence that he is racist and thats enough to condemn for some,

i have circumstantial evidence of a sexist manhater too. Does that make her sexist?

    No.

    because logic overrides emotions

whats pathetic is pandering emotions as fact.
