The White Sox will designate left-hander John Danks for assignment this week following a 10-year major-league tenure with the organization, a source said Tuesday. Danks has a 79-104 career record, a 4.38 ERA and $14.25 million owed to him for the final year of his five-year, $65 million contract. That deal became one of the bigger busts in recent Sox history because Danks needed shoulder surgery less than eight months after he signed the agreement. Danks wasn’t the same pitcher after the surgery and hasn’t posted better than a 4.71 ERA in any season since. He went 0-4 with a 7.25 ERA over his four starts this year, and he gave up six earned runs in five innings against the Orioles on Thursday in his last start. Afterward, Danks took responsibility for halting the Sox’s six-game winning streak at the time. - See more at:http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/whitesox/ct-john-danks-white-sox-20160503-story.html
