Heard this on the radio, agree with the caller. We need to stop keeping a white and black unit of rotation. Everyone has to play with each other, not this freezing out and strange rotations.
basically we have a strange rotation, and I think it might be due to nate keeping a "black squad" and "white squad". this was mentioned in the preseason....that there were definite practice squuad. "keep rudy as a reserve because he gels better with the second unit", etc.......just get the best players on the floor.......
This is a repeat for me as well, sorry... The White Squad will be great when it consists of Sergio, Rudy, Webs, PF du jour(Outlaw/Frye/Diogu), and Przy. Until then, get Rudy as many minutes as he can choke down. Start him at PG if you need to. Start Batum. If Oden's out for a while (and I don't think he is, but that's just my optimism), then get Bayless, Batum and Sergio minutes with Roy and LMA (and, by necessity, Przy). Look to trade for Steven Jackson. (Ok, maybe that's a reach)
Better than the days when Cheeks would go bipolar and yank people in and out of the line-up at random.
Anyone who goes on Rome or is proud of the fact that he calls his listeners "clones" is a tool, which is enough said. As for keeping two distinct units...that just never happens at any level of basketball. The eight man-rotation is sort of the golden standard. Starting PG, SG, SF, PF, C. Backup G (PG/SG), Wing (SG/SG) and Big (PF/C). Assuming players stay decently healthy, this allows everyone to get a good amount of playing time. If you look at teams that spread minutes around more, then players just don't get into a good rhythm. For the sake of practice I understand it, but in reality Basketball is not like other sports. Except for garbage time, you don't have all your second or third stringers on the floor like you might with hockey. However, the one issue with the 8-man rotation is that if a player gets hurt, you need depth. We are lucky to have a good amount of depth everywhere except at the SF position. With Roy, Blake, Rudy, Bayless and Sergio we have five good guards. With Frye, Aldridge, Pryz and Oden we have four quality bigs. Martell, Outlaw and Batum are the SF...and we see how the injury impacts it. Anyways, you never substitute more than two players at a time. The false reality that there are two different static lineup never sticks and I don't know who would have thought that it is something that would actually happen.
Nate tends to try to switch out 2 complete lineups in a matter of minutes, which leaves us with some stiff legs and cold shots and no sense of a rhythm of the game. Horrible way to implement what he calls his uptempo squad. He is way too OCD for what is designed to be an quick, free-flowing game (within limits).
