The reason I chose Davis as a starter is that my philosophy is that if you have good offensive guards, you surround them with rebounders.
Vonleh seems like a pretty good rebounder, no? (If not, feel free to stat slap me ) And he can make a shot.
He's shooting .408... as a PF. Individual stats aside, we seem to be suck when he's in. Without checking his +/-, I'm quite sure it's terrible.
Vonleh has been given every opportunity to shine and has made nothing of it. The only thing he is decent at is rebounding. I say we don't make the same mistake of giving a guy 5 chances before making the determination of whether he is good or not.dd
This is my lineup too if ET is healthy. 3 Ball handlers 3 perimeter shooters( I am going to think positive and say Meyers is more consistent coming back from the break. 4 if you want to include Turner and 5, Nurkic.) 2 defenders( 3 if you want to include CJ.) 3 Go to scorers( 4 if you want to include Nurkic.) 1 rim protector. Have I missed any other benefits or advantages? Meyers also seemed to play with best( loose term) when he was on the floor with Turner according to conversation and statistics(?) on TALKING BALL. We are paying Meyers $40 million. Gotta see, once and for all if their is any value at all in that contract. So give him 25-30 minutes a game for the rest of the season playing with Dame and Turner alongside a big man like Nurkic, who can rebound and protect the rim, and see how he does? And for all the people who say no way, look at it this way, if he continues to perform terribly, well then you have your Tank Commander and you get what you want in a high draft pick. I and some others on here who still hold out hope for Leonard get to see if that faith is warranted or not with seeing him with consistent playing time for the rest of the season. It's Win/Win.
Anytime Meyers subs in it gives me nausea. I'm not sure I will be able to watch the rest of the season if he actually starts I don't see why he should start over Nurkic or Harkless If your argument is that he's young and could improve with the minutes, well so are the two other and they actually don't suck. Meyers has proven times and times again he doesn't belong in the league, let alone in a starting line-up.
Are you talking to me? If you are I have Leonard playing with Nurkic. Also Harkless would be my starting SF if Turner is still hurt. Heck, I really like Mo and thinks he should have never lost his starting job but it seems we need three guys who can bring up the ball and run the offense. Turner can do that. Harkless cannot. Hope that clears things up if you were responding to me. Edit: I need to respond to your last 'point', How has he proven he doesn't belong in the league? Has he gotten 25-30 minutes for more than 25 games( in a row) without having to worry about getting yanked when he has a bad shooting night or being benched for the next week and a half before playing again at 9 minutes one night, 15 another, 30 three nights from that to 7 minutes a week from that? Meyers has never been given a chance to try to shine consistently. That's what I want to see before I throw in the towel on him. Sorry if that pisses you off.
I wasn't talking to you in particular, but let me add: I would be glad if Hark, Aminu or Vonleh played minutes at the 4 while Leonard gets 0 Nurkic and Davis can share duty at the 5 This guy make me want to punch a wall everytime he is on the floor, seriously. I can't bear it anymore. If I could just magically erase him from the team I would do it without question.
He just needs more time. Maybe another ridiculous contract will allow the coaching staff......who sees him everyday in practice, to see his value. Maybe he'll be a lifer and become our bmcotf
In that case you start Vonleh at PF. Also, Vonleh has some sort of potential while Davis already reached his ceiling. Also also, Vonleh can theoretically spread the floor. Also also also, Vonleh is better at guarding perimeter players whenever we switch on screens. Dame CJ Harkless Vonleh Nurk
Sounds like you're done with Vonleh. That's cool. I can respect that. I personally would still start Vonleh over Davis in the above scenario for several reasons: Vonleh will stay out of Nurkic's way, while Davis has no where else to go; Vonleh can make a shot outside of 3 three feet, Davis not; Vonleh can also box out and provide complementary rebounding while Nurkic is on the court. Alternatively, we could start Meyers; and ain't nobody got time for that! J/K: I'd also start Meyers next to Nurkic, over Davis. Meyers can make shots from anywhere outside of "The Nurkic Zone" (tm); he sets good screens for our guards up top (in an area of the court where Davis should never venture); and he is pretty good at gathering up errant rebounds in his own right. Bottom line is: Welcome Big Nurk!!
