lol I laugh when I hear about the spree thing. He gets offered a very good extension, declines, now he gets ****. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Btw Kwan, are you korean?
Spree is just pure stupidity. It just goes to show you where is heart is. He's a guy who has been paid the max for years and has a chance to win a ring with Kevin Garnett and he just gets into a fuss. Now Shawn Kemp has a legit excuse to feed his family. Doesn't he have like a 1000 kids by now?

Haha. Thanks. Actually, I did get US citizenship years ago. It's just that I was too lazy to submit the letter to give up Korean citizenship for years . But the law in Korea changed, so I finally submitted the letter, because I do not want to go to the army for 2 years for visiting my parents for couple weeks ...
Lol, yeah that may be a good idea, unless you want to be escorted from airport to the barrack for two years
So South Korea forces all men to enlist in the army reserves? Man, isn't that like Israel? Actually, I'm really confused which countries do that. I guess any country where war could break out any moment, you have to get enough trained units to defend. Anyway, I'm glad about Aaron Miles, Justin Davis. Those guys are solid selections.

Sometimes I wish the US did that. For instance in Germany, every male must enlist for 2 years minimum. 2 years really is not that bad. I think it would be good for America in general to do that. The kids these days just are not patriotic these days and they make me sick sometimes. I served 8 years voluntarily...

If it's anything like the 60's and 70's, there could be some peeps that don't really want to fight you know? They'd rather run or not fight as hard.
Well, if you ever played counter strike with FF on, you know how dangerous FF can be . Technically, Korea still is in a war. Both North and South just decided to rest for a while in 1953. Granted that it has been more than 50 years of rest with no real sign of immidiate war, but technically, it won't break any international law to start the war again. There are number of occassions where the war was nearly broken off again. Heck, Clinton was about to start the war in 1993, and Carter stopped it in last mins. So, that's why enlistments are required. If anybody enlists to army, consider going to Korea for mandatory one year deployment to the 'danger zone' or something. It really is a great place to visit for a year, and probably the safest place to be, instead of being in Iraq or Afganistan...

I have however been combat comm and was deployed during the war. I also had several buddies who have served a remote in Korea. I really wish I could have gone before I got married. From what I hear it is kind of crazy there. The ops tempo is very high because they are constantly exercising for the real possibility of war. When I was combat comm before 9/11 our ops tempo required us to do a 3 month deployment every year or so and exercise about once a quarter, but after 9/11 that all changed. I dont blame you Kwan for giving up your citizenship because of that. Would you have to enlist as a North Korean or South Korean?
Haha, I don't think 99.9% people in here will ever meet North Korean in their lifetime. Heck, even I haven't met anybody from N.Korea yet. It really depends on where you get to stay. If you stay near the border, yeah it can be bit crazy. North Korean army seems to do exercise by sending their army to demilitary zone for a while then move back and stuff. So, tensions are always there. But, if you ever get to stay in Seoul, things are excellent...

Most of Euorpe countries have professional armies now (remeber when Stojakovic had to miss some turnament, to go to serve in the army in Greece, because he has a double citizenship). Here in Latvia only from last year we don't have to serve 1 year in army, and all resources are spent to make professional army, as a part of NATO plan to make fast reagent force in Europe. Troops here also can chose to go on peace keeping missions in Afganistan and Iraq... The worst situaton is in Israel, where thay have to serve 3-4 years (if I remeber correctly) and they are thrown in a real war.

That does not make any sense to me at all. By the time you finish basic training and your technical training your time is done. What a waste of money...
I believe in Isreal, all citizens (men and women) must serve. When you are such a small nation, and are surrounded by countries who hate everything about you, you must be prepared. I also think it's mandatory in Switzerland as well. I have a freind who was in the military who spent some time in Korea, and said they might be the nicest people in the world. Talk about off topic! First I mention that Kwame has small hands, and now this.
