We'd get the cops called on us for harassment.

Not a banger but probably available: Antawn Jamison
Who I'd be most interested in: Udonis Haslem

I agree. Fez had showed me Joel's stats overseas. We need to bring this kid of next year.

The reality of it is; we aren't going to win it all this season, so let's just let our fruit get ripe.

Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox will be URFAs this summer, I wouldn't break the bank to sign either of them, but if they could be had for 4-5 million a year, either would be a suitable banger type that could be counted on to fill 15+ minutes a game. Hell, maybe keeping Diogu and/or Shavlik around on a cheap contract isn't the worst idea in the world, although either is still pretty much mystery meat at this point of their careers.

does everyone hate my posts or what? Why sign the likes of Brandon Bass to 4-5 million a year when in all likelihood you can draft a similar player with a second round pick? How have Detroit, Boston, Utah, Dallas, and Houston all found solid backup PFs for next to nothing?

I still have to wonder why people consider Brandon Bass a "banger". He is the softest big body in the NBA.

    Look at his stats.

He is not a good player, especially as a "banger".

I posted pretty much in support of your post. Brandon Bass is a borderline NBA player at this point. No clue why he is worth a Frye/Outlaw salary combo.

I'm wondering if Freeland can make an impact on the defensive end next year.

Freeland should be able to put up Bass numbers at a fraction of the salary.

I'm sure this team can get 7pts/4reb/1.5 FT attempt a game (in 18 minutes) from somebody already who the Blazers have the rights to next year!

I don't understand the Bass infatuation from some people.

We'd have to give up a little more than that for Jamison.

    Blake
    Roy
    Jamison
    Aldridge
    Oden

Could that work with Jamison at the 3?

Jamison IS a 3 imo. Washington just plays him at the 4.

He's good because he can go inside and out.

Do you watch the man play? Seriously, why are you, like, the only guy in the universe that goes out of his way to criticize Brandon Bass?

The only person I see infatuated with Bass in this thread is you. I simply put his name out there since he is an URFA this summer, and is probably decent enough to play 10 to 15 minutes a night without completely embarrassing himself. We're talking about a backup power forward here, not somebody expected to come in and challenge for a starting spot.

I do somewhat agree that Freeland would be a much cheaper option, and could also probably give 10 quality minutes a game (assuming he's NBA ready), but who's to say he wouldn't rather just stay and play in Europe and make more money, Rudy's decision not withstanding?

Well, we do have a boatload of 2nd-rounders this year...
