With John Wall being a Guard, If CJ emerges as we want him to, would John Wall really be a game changer for us?
in that scenario, no...but i mentioned him if CJ or Hendo don't pan out..Wall is a good combo guard...I don't think he's a true pt guard, just like Henderson or CJ but he's a lot taller and more athletic than CJ and is a candidate for team USA every year, young. I think pairing him with Lillard is intriguing.
I don't think he's a good fit next to Damian. Wall is a ball dominator and Damian is not gonna give up the ball to anyone.
That could pose a problem. That's why we need a Wes type player next to Dam.e Also why I question Dame and CJ working well on the court together. They both will want the ball. We need an off the ball player at the starting 2. Is there really only three game changers in the league potentially available? LBJ, Durant & Griffin? Pretty scary and yes... showing how thin the league is in top talent right now. There has got to be a sleeper with all star numbers on a losing team that will want out this coming season if the team doesn't show marked improvement. Onroa? hmm is he truly a game changer?
I disagree..Dame is a pt guard, he's going to feed teammates if the Blazers are going to succeed. What Wall is doing with the Wizards doesn't compare to what his role would be in Portland. He has to become the go to guy there. Wes is going to be a go to guy in Dallas unlike his time here.
What's he's saying is Wall needs the ball in his hands to be effective. He does not play off ball well.
So you think they would be a good fit together? Statistically Wall is much better at feeding the ball to his teammates and Dame takes more shots and is also a more efficient scorer. I think a Wall/Lillard back court would have Damian playing off the ball a lot more with the ball in Wall's hands which would be playing to both of their strengths. I just don't see Damian as the incumbent franchise point guard giving up the reigns on offence so easily.
John Wall is a PG, not a combo guard. If we were to pair Wall with Lillard, Wall would be the PG and Lillard would be the SG.
Oh yeah, we should trade for Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin. And while we're at it, I think we have realistic chance to land Wilt and Larry Bird!
Geez... The pessimism around here. It isn't a "we should trade for...." thread... Its who do you think might be disgruntled and demand a trade that might fit us and be a game changer. I love how people just twist shit around and then proceed to shit further on it... come on man. Do better than this please...
So we give up the farm to get Durant and then he leaves in free agency and we get nothing. Sounds like a great plan.
I think it has been proven as well as mentioned many times. When a player wants out, the team he wants out of very seldom get fair trade value for them. For you to say trade the farm for Durant holds no water....You know this. Also, if a player wants to go to a specific team, why would he want the team he is going to, to trade everything? We would be giving up our draft picks and some bench potential is what I am thinking. Durant is in the last year of his contract, so the Thunder don't have near as much leverage as if he still had several years left. Plus it could also be a sign and trade thing, so that we are assured Durant doesn't leave. These are all speculation options though that aren't really relevant. again. If Durant voices his unhappiness, you don't think the Blazers should swing for him? If so, please provide reasons why that aren't..."trade the farm for him". That holds no water in this scenario. AGAIN... the question isn't who should we trade for. It is who do you think will become disgruntled and want a trade that might fit with the Blazers who would be a game changer..... Im thinking some of you are on a one track mind at the moment and not able to open thoughts up to other things. Maybe why some people think this thread is a waste of time. It is if you read it as, "who will be disgruntled the Blazers should trade for." they are completely different questions IMO...
