This is the subject nobody here is talking about. And really, same with Shae. If Portland goes into camp with this roster and a draft pick, Scoot and Shae will come off the bench and not be happy. No crunch time, no big contract on the horizon. They will start Ayton, Grant and Camara up top, with Jrue and Deni in the backcourt. Didn't Joe do a preseason presser last year saying this would be Scoot/Shaedon's team? Obviously it is not. They need to be moved for draft assets while they have a little value. Sitting a third and fourth season is not good. The league knows.
I will bet that one of Scoot/Shaedon does not come off the bench. And there's a chance both start. Even if we keep Jrue and Grant. But I understand the skepticism.
As is, Sharpe will be coming off the bench in a four guard rotation with Scoot. Jrue/Deni will start in backcourt. Camara, Grant and Ayton up front. Deni and Ayton should be the first and second options with Grant the third. But we all know Grant will try to be the first option. There is no way Portland is gonna have $35 mil players coming off the bench. Clingan and Thybulle added make the nine player rotation. The rest of the roster is not even worth mentioning.
Nah, it's not just "now or never" for Sharpe, it is also for Portland's FO to understand if he is the guy. He will be the featured back-court scorer
As is the roster doesn't make a ton of sense and I think it's crazy to be making such bold assertions about who will start and who will be in the rotation. There are just too many unknowns to be so sure about anything with this team right now.
I believe the skepticism is because of Chauncey over the last 3 years, the Simons/Ayton/Grant combined to play 449 games; they started 449 games. There really no compelling reason to believe that will change next season
No there's no compelling reason besides the fact that Ant is gone and we will see who is here when the dust settles. If Scoot or Shaedon come into camp having made a big jump... that would be your compelling reason. I just don't think there's any reason whatsoever to be sure of anything about this roster right now.
Like I said, I understand the skepticism, but I can’t change anyone’s mind so let’s just wait until the season starts shall we?
One of the even numbers, preferably a forward. https://nbadraftroom.com/2025-nba-draft-big-board-10-0-final-edition/
I don't think Carter will be a superstar but I think he's the most likely to reach his potential at that spot and he brings a defensive intensity rivaled by only Toumani Camara. If he's available, Blazers should feel very happy to get him and lean even more into the defensive identity alongside the acquisition of Holiday.
Listening to the local talker here in PHX. They were talking on how teams will be passing on Maluach because of a travel freeze regarding Sudan. Anyone hear this?
