They lost me on Essengue but they won me back on Demin. Happy to see Schmitz sees the same thing there that I saw.

I chuckled at the one guy who was a big Denim fan and tried to justify it by saying Demin kept shooting three's, "with confidence", even though he was lousy at it, all season long. I think that's the definition of chucking

His shot is nice though, even if it wasn't falling his freshman year. His shooting at the combine was on par with the lights out guys in this draft. I think his shooting will end up being just fine. If he's there at 11 and Essengue is off the board then I'd say Demin is the highest upside guy.

When has "hunting" ever really worked? It really doesn't pay to dump your offensive plan just to try to post up a little guy - particularly as so few players are good at posting up these days. I mean Lu Dort should get "hunted" all the time - he's just 6'2". But they've got him defending Jokic out there and doing a really good job.

I don't like stating my opinion like it's better than anyone else's, but I've settled on
    Carter Bryant
    Nique Clifford
    Cedric Coward
All 3 offer what Portland is prioritizing recently

I would really like to see another mid to late first
    Walter Clayton
    Liam McNeeley
Yanic Konan Niederhauser (My new not-at-11-but-want-him guy).
I think all 3 fill holes and at minimum add depth we need

I don't know what that means. Are you talking shooting form? Jake Layman had excellent shooting form but ended up a career 30% shooter on threes

Demin shot 27%, and 154 attempts is a solid sample size...and it was the college 3 point distance. Sure, he might end significantly better shooting threes from the NBA distance, but how probable is that? Anyway, I just thought it was funny that an obvious Demin fan tried to make it be a plus that Demin shot three's with confidence but missed 3 out of 4

I take it you didn't watch the Lakers much post trade or the Blazers when Nurk was on the team. There are many other examples of fruitful hunts I could list

Not a great comparison. Kelly's strength is on the offensive side of the ball. Carter's is on the defensive side. I have heard some Shane Battier with more athleticism comps.

Coward reminds me of a 90s wing. Steve Smith/ Jamaal Mashburn type. I think he doesn't fit our FO's penchant for high risk but they shouldn't dismiss him.

This post up skill is something we can use to zag

OK, those are hunting bad defenders, people who can't move their feet. There's no indication that Richardson is either, he's just short.

creating a situation of 'bigger-defended-by-much-smaller' may be one of the most hunted mismatches there is

Let me bring you back to the good old days with Damon as their PG/SG & the 2003 playoffs. Remember Dirk setting the pick at the top of the key getting switched off of Sheed and on the Mouse for the cleanest of looks every single time down the court? Not sure why some are pining for this to be the future.

I like their top 4, just not in that order. I would go with CC and Bryant before the others.

The argument for Egor is growing on me. I couldn't care less about his 3pt stats when he was 18. His shooting form suggests he will improve. He is definitely crafty with the ball. With our luck we draft him and sanctions and restrictions against Russia would fuck things up. (Visa, travel)

    A big, slow, club-footed, ham-handed center.

Also: I was screaming at the TV just to play Detlef Schrempf instead of Stoudamire. After all, Pippen was really our PG anyway.
