I think at 25 he will be Aldridge with D. His instincts are already there on defense and his offense will continue to get better each year, I think he has the ability to end up with a pretty sweet mid range jumper to go along with his excellent footwork on the block.
Aldridge was a damn good defender. He's underrated there. And he was all nba on offense. Not sure Zach has that. It's why I say sheed as best comparison. Better defense than Aldridge, not as good of a scorer.
I think sheed had so much more natural talent than either Zach or LA. The only thing that held back sheed was he didnt want it bad enough, but that guy at least to me was one of a kind talent wise.
I just scoured the internet and his combo of defense skills and knowledge, athleticism, foot work, ability to hit the three, mean streak and just all around solid game really is unique. And whats even more unique is his potential to significantly expand those things. I've come to the conclusion that he really is his own comp. If I had to compare the closest I have seen mentioned here so far is AK47. But I definitely feel like he has the potential to expand his game way beyond that.
I see that comp a bit, but I think Collins plays better interior defense, and I think AK47 had better handles.
Properly motivated Sheed was better on offense than LA, his shot was unblockable and he could score from anywhere on the court.
I agree now, but I fully expect Collins to add weight(like Aldridge did) and become a lot more polished on Offense. Right now nothing is really ran for him, once he adds a mid range game, continues improving his 3, and gets more experience in the post I believe he will be equally effective on both ends.
Oh I'm pretty sure Sheed wanted it but he thought the way to win was play team ball and not play like a superstar. He had no interest in superstardom and some Blazer fans hated that. Dame is the first Blazer to embrace a superstar role since Drexler. Aldridge kinda but not really. In Detroit, Sheed found a team that wanted to play his way and he won a championship. Almost won two. P.S. I know Roy was good but he wasn't interested in averaging 25-30 points per game and that's the kind of superstar I'm talking about.
Thats basically what I mean by wanting it, the guy had everything it took to be a superstar but didnt want to be a superstar.
If sheed had really wanted it, he wouldn’t have had a beer gut. The guy would take the fine rather than hit the weight room.
Not sure who you watched during TT's tenure, but the guy I watched was an unathletic defensive liability who switched into the ballhandler WAY to much and got NOTHING out of his 7'4 wingspan...
The difference between Zach and LA is scoring opportunity. LA got a lot more scoring opportunity then Zach will get. Zach plays with Dame and CJ and Nurk those 3 going to get most opportunity to score and best for Zach is 4 option. Now defense side though is where Zach will lay his head on.
