I never said the lottery was a sure thing! Some of you just read what you want to see. I said there's two ways to get alot better, hit the lottery or free agency. How some of you interpret that as, "BUT THERE'S BUSTS IN THE LOTTERY" (CRY BABY SOUND) No shit there's busts in the lottery!!!!!! So what? There's also superstars every year. If you have a good GM you have a pretty good chance in finding one. but noooooooooo. Some of you want to stick with your "all star" who is incaple of carrying any team. And you want to stick with the most overrated player in the NBA, Batum. Well sorry I want to be good, not live in purgatory for another decade. But hey, have fun watching batum, wes matthews, and your so called all star lose 50 plus games this year. But hey maybe we will win 40?!?!?!?!? That would be awesome!! 40 big games! = PURGATORY. YOU ALL BETTER HOPE I'M RIGHT AND WE DON'T WIN 30.

lol OIG reminds me of a guy on OLive who used to be obsessed with Martell and got a restraining order from him. Same kind of inflammatory posts.

This, all the way around. And color me as one of those people that thinks that once LMA and Lillard get the P&R down (and Tom Penn pointed out how effective Lillard is at it, so it's a matter of getting LMA up to speed) then we have our bread and butter play. If LMA can also figure out how to pass out of a double team, he'll have Lillard, Wes and Batum all able to hoist up a 3.

I'm going to go out of a limb here and say "hyperbole." Unless you think that:

    a) Lillard < Telfair.
    b) Wes < rookie Webster
    c) Batum < Khryapa
    d) LMA < Z-Bo (or Outlaw)
    e) Hickson (or Freeland, or Leonard) < Ha Seung-Jin and Theo Ratliff

    Bench, you say?
Nolan Smith/Ronnie Price vs. 2005-06 Steve Blake and rookie Jarrett Jack
whoever our wings are vs. Voshon Leonard and Juanny Dixon
Our bigs vs. whoever b/w Skinner, Ha, Outlaw didn't start

we got a max player to sign here 3 months ago...did you forget?
What do you call last year? And how many teams "sacrificed", only to not get their star?

    32 wins seems about right

EDIT: Really auto-correct? "aboy" instead of "about"

I guess I'll have to live with that. But you're not comprehending. You said that 'you have never seen this team with this little talent.' I pointed out that for that statement to be true, you have to agree that the majority of a) through e) are true, or are aggregately true.

the fact that you're nitpicking Hickson, Freeland or Leonard vs. Ha and Ratliff kind of answers the question for me, though.

ZBO alone would beat this team. Our front line on defense is worse then some college teams.

It all depends on health as is often the case in sports. If we stay healthy we'll win more than 35 imo.

Z-bo has only beaten LMA in 4 of 10 tries, so we don't need a front line on defense, we just need LMA. Especially since, on your 2005-06 team that you think is better, you have Khryapa and Ha (or Ratliff) filling out the rest of the front line. You don't need a college team to defend that.

Z-Bo averaged 18 and 8 that year shooting 43%. FORTY THREE PERCENT FROM THE FIELD!

I said they were good players, but not superstars.

Not one of those guys could lead a team deep into the play-offs as the number 1 options on their team. Not one of those guys, in their primes, was better than Aldridge in his prime. So, why give up Aldridge, to take a chance on someone who may, or my not, eventually be as good as Aldridge after several years of development?

It seems like going backwards with the hope of eventually going sideways. I'd prefer to keep the sure thing, build around him and try to move forward. Giving up your best player rarely makes your team better.

I think that it's possible we only win 30 games, but I don't think we should do much of anything about it.

If the team is good enough to squeak into the playoffs: awesome. It's a young team (five rookies? Six? It's ridiculous) and they should get better as players. The core doesn't seem good enough to threaten for a title in the intermediate- to long-run, but if they win, say, 45 games this year, then the team and coaching are much better than I thought, so maybe they'll surprise me and be able to take the next step.

If the team is bad enough to get a high lottery pick: awesome. I still like our youth and our talent, and adding another big piece would almost certainly bolster us in the long run. Further, Aldridge is young enough that by the time we climb from bad to mediocre to good, he'll still have useful tread left on his tires.

I'm simply not worried about this year. Not excited, like the Oden years, but not despondent, like last year's piece of veteran lameness. I will watch the games and see how the team develops... it should be interesting either way.

If we replaced lillard/wes/batum/Leonard with cp3/wade/lebron/Howard, Odenisgod would still rant about how bad this team is, how the teams so injury prone we will be lucky to win 30 games and how we need to blow it up and get lucky in the lottery because we lack talent.

Sure they could. Not John Lucas, though. The big guys were a couple of inches shorter than Aldridge back then, but more effective. As to the point of all this, whether to trade Aldridge, I said earlier: Not unless it's a trade up. Wait for a Dwight Howard-type event.
