If you compare Nurkic stats as a blazer to Jokic, the only thing that stands out is that Jokic is a better shooter and Nurk is a better shot blocker. I'd say that's pretty accurate.
Yes, lets just wait 13 days and bet all of our marbles on who ever wins the head to head match up that night.
Jokic vs Sixers AT Denver this season: 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks and Denver LOST.
What about the fact that Jokic is doing it on the team that Nurkic could not find a way to? That's got to account for something.
I don't understand why we're comparing the two? It's not like we had a shot at Jokic and we "settled" with Nurk. Who cares? We got a damn good player. Not directed at you, Fonz... just who I quoted.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/j/jokicni01/gamelog/2017/ Jokic has some crazy statlines. Had 40 points on 74% shooting. 17/21/12 game 35/12 on 64% shooting 31/14 on 87% shooting He's been doing what Nurkic has been doing but for the entire season.
Can someone actually tell me why we need to compare the two? There's literally no reason to. And any reason I am thinking of (both from denver) doesn't mean anything because it was clear Nurk needed new scenery.. Can't we just enjoy what we have without comparing and ranking? #alsoalifelesson
I do think it is interesting to consider who will be the better player in 5 years. People are considering the possibility that Nurkic could become the better of the two and lets be honest if that ever happens then we would be talking about if this was th greatest trade in franchise history. That being said it's kind of silly to debate who the better player is right now. Jokic has done things Nurk has not yet here. You hear "First player to do this since Barkley in 1986" and think "Holy shit this is amazing that means Jokic hasn't done it" but Jokic probably has some "Hasn't been done since Magic Johnson" which Nurk has not done. Plus everything has been Roses for Nurk here, lets wait for him to have an inevitable let down game and see how many people are talking about trading him, or starting Meyers.
It's mainly just bitter nuggets fans that bring up jokic anytime Nurkic is mentioned, because it keeps the focus off of that stupid as shit trade they made lmao
For the record, jokic is better than Nurkic, but the gap isn't as wide as people think. Can't just ignore the defensive part of their games. When you consider the 5 general tools in scouting a player (shooting, creating for self, creating for others, rebounding, defending position) it's only a draw because Nurkic hasn't had a big enough sample of shooting the ball, and he's a better shooter than Jokic is a defender, so I don't know, its really close. The people that laugh at the suggestion that Nurkic is comparable to Jokic are either bitter Nugget fans, or just sheep following a narrative.
I take Nurk just because I think he's more of a traditional Center that clogs up the paint and blocks shots. He's kind of an enforcer. Both are good passers, Jokic a little better. Jokic's outside shot is definitely his leg up. When they play us he'll try and take Nurkic away from the paint by handling the ball and shooting outside, I think we should put Aminu on the Jokic assignment. They are both probably as good as they are because of competing against each other in practice for the past couple years. I think for this team, Nurk is a better fit. We desperately needed someone down low protecting the paint to keep teams honest. After his 5 blocks in the first quarter, Philly thought twice about getting into the paint. His passing is on par with Plumlee. He has better touch, he's younger, and we got a 1st rounder. HIGHWAY ROBBERY
What's really interesting, is that Nurkic, has a 24 PER as a blazer. Small sample size, but whatever. Jokic, has a 26 PER for the year. Dame is at 22.
Jokic is the better player. He is going to be an allstar sooner rather than later and will be in the allstar Game for years to come. He is like a center version of Dirk. Nurkic fits or team like a perfect piece to a jigsaw puzzle though. So happy we have him. Both players are good, but they are also very different and have different skill sets. I would love to have either on this team. Glad we fleeced Denver for one of them.
