Criteria: Must be at least 6'4" and preferably SOLID, with long arms. Must be a very good defender, both one-on-one and team (high BBIQ and awareness) Preferably has PG-level court awareness and passing skills so Dame can play off-ball. Must be a very good three-point shooter for when Dame penetrates and kicks (and so offenses don't swarm Dame) Must be very unselfish, quick to move/push the ball, much more catch-and-shoot than one-on-one Josh Hart is a poor man's version of this. A healthy Lonzo Ball has just about everything except the solid part. But does a healthy Lonzo Ball exist? And if he did, why would Chicago trade him, given that they were great with him and just look sad without him? Could Shaedon Sharp become this? Impossible to know. Right now he's completely clueless at team defense and the other team always goes on a massive run when he checks in. Also, I just don't see the PG skills, like AT ALL.
PG? Maybe you missed the thread title. No surprise he's clueless at NBA team defense but HE CAN stay in front of most players which is half the battle.
Caruso. Period. One of the more underrated guys in the league IMO. Can match up with 1 thru 3 giving them even more flexibility on D. Good ballhander, great passer and good shooter. Another Hart type that checks a lot of boxes without being a heavy scorer. Tough, intelligent, unselfish, experienced but not old. I've wanted him since he was a Laker.
everyone's description here sounds like they're talking about wes matthews. we have a reasonable facsimile to wes on our roster: josh hart.
Wes was a poor man's Klay (or maybe Danny Green): great defense and could get piping hot from three, but very limited guard skills. Hart can play point in a pinch - Wes couldn't do that in his dreams.
I'm voting for STOMP, based on his ability to play the whole 40 minutes in summer league in San Francisco.
I like Devin Vassell. 6'5 and long so has upside. Wonder what it would take to prize him away from SA? Probably a fair bit and might not be a win-now solution.
