Not to say that he isn't at other times but he did have to have surgery after the season because of that. If you have ever had back problems then you know running and jumping sucks when your back is messed up.

wow i appreciate that you don't mince words but have you ever had back issues? i've only had some very minor ones (ie randomly throwing it out) and it hurts like hell and is debilitating. add onto it that rudy's body is very slight in frame and not use to the abuse of an 82 game schedule and i think it's pretty obvious why he dropped off so quickly. but if it makes you feel better to call him "a gigantic pussy" go ahead!

I've actually had back problems VERY similar to Rudy's, and if I was a professional athlete or had the extra money lying around, I might have gotten the same surgery he did. Rudy was a pussy before his injury, so I'm inclined to think that him being a pussy is more relevant to his decline than a minor back injury. He was always a pussy physically and mentally, and always will be.

hahaha ... one man's opinion. there's a reason people were drooling over the guy even before the 08 olympics and he was well on his way to being a decent player before the injury. did it mess with his head some and made him a little more leery about driving? maybe and that would mean he was weak in the head. obviously we all know about his slight frame and that takes a toll as well. and if it was because his bff, sergio left, then he really was weak in the head and not worth the fuss. but just looking at the numbers, it's hard to say that the ariza flagrant foul didn't have a decent role in his demise.

If you watch the video, the guy fell so that most of the impact was on his lower back. Afterwards he just laid there and couldn't move. As others have said, I've had back problems and actually I'm dealing with minor back pain right now. It's not like hurting a knee or a hand. As much as those injuries hurt, they can be repaired and you can play through it. Back injuries can ruin your life. They can be completely debilitating. It sucks because I was just starting to work out again and then I hurt my back. What exercises can you do with a back injury? You can't run. You can't jump. Rudy used to play with reckless abandon and after that injury we never saw that again. I don't blame him.
