like i have said, KG is the most rounded player in the NBA, putting up MVP numbers every time he plays: PPG-23.4 ;RPG-14.60; APG-4.6; SPG-.89; BPG-2.53 shaq.. although i hate to say it.. is still the most dominant low-post force in the nba.. putting up all kinds of numbers with a good team around him: PPG-20.1; RPG-11.4; APG-2.6; SPG-.35; BPG-2.71 duncan is all about the fundamentals.. he scores 47 last night and he does it so quietly you would think he didnt even play: PPG-23.3; RPG-12.6; APG-2.6; SPG-.69; BPG-2.50 . I know stats arent the only things that matter, but these players are indespensible to their teams.. remember shaq's injry at the beginning of last year? even with kobe playing at the top of his game.. lakers weren't anything
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting starman85:</div><div class="quote_post">1. KG - doing it all 2. AI - tops in scoring and steals again 3. Duncan - hitting his MVP-caliber stride 4. B Diddy - 2(assists), 2(steals), 3(scoring) sez it all 5. J O'Neal - 20/10 on top east team 6. Shaq - 20/10 on top team, but with more help 7. Chauncy Billups - 2nd best east team b/c of him 8. Air Canada - playing well, team in top five 9. Peja - playing well, team in top 3, with more help 10. 'Melo - team in 1st in midwest mostly because of him</div> Chauncey Billups??? Carmelo Anthony?? This is the MVP race here, not a popularity contest. So the Pistons are the 2nd best team because of him? Oh, so I guess Ben Wallace and Rip Hamilton don't matter huh. How about the Nuggets- we all KNOW that Melo gets NO help from Nene, Andre Miller, and Earl Boykins ... those 2 players definitely don't deserve to be in the MVP race.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobeonfire:</div><div class="quote_post">Chauncey Billups??? Carmelo Anthony?? This is the MVP race here, not a popularity contest. </div> If it was one of those,C-Bill would never get any credit or be mentioned no matter what he does. However if any Piston deserves to be in the MVP race it should be big Ben.10 points 13 rebounds 2 steals and over 3.5 blocks per game
MVP = most VALUABLE player.. not the player with the best stats.. the player most valuable to their team.. nugs have 12 (?) wins and they had 17 all last year.... is it only melo? no.. is melo as valuable to his team as anyone in the nba? maybe..
Too many are just looking at the Nugget wins and saying "Melo" but in fact how many new faces did this team add? They play team basketball people, Denver is not a 1, 2, nor 3 man show. Watch the games, READ our previews and reviews.
East- Baron Davis is the league's most dominating perimeter player right now and with Mash out has the hornets on his back West- Tie Peja/KG Both players' teams would be below .500 without them and are contenders with them.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WhiteManCanJump:</div><div class="quote_post">with mash, do you think baron would be doing as much? will his ppg go down but his assists go up?</div> If I remember from last year, I think that's exactly what happend, his assists went up and his points dropped a bit. Either way, he's up there in the MVP race.
I have no idea.. but that's a scary lineup in NO. Almost as scary as the LA starting 5, but I won't get all into that.
