<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rocko220:</div><div class="quote_post"> West- Tie Peja/KG Both players' teams would be below .500 without them and are contenders with them.</div> That didn't make any sense, because if you took anyones star player away besides a few teams in this league(Lakers, Mavs) they would be below .500. And people saying Melo, did Melo make a BIG difference in Denver? Of course, but they also added a lot of talent. Andre Miller is a stud pg, Boytkins and Barry are good shooters off the bench. Nene has turned into a monster, Lenard is scoring like always, read the other topics.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kobeonfire:</div><div class="quote_post">Chauncey Billups??? Carmelo Anthony?? This is the MVP race here, not a popularity contest. So the Pistons are the 2nd best team because of him? Oh, so I guess Ben Wallace and Rip Hamilton don't matter huh. How about the Nuggets- we all KNOW that Melo gets NO help from Nene, Andre Miller, and Earl Boykins ... those 2 players definitely don't deserve to be in the MVP race.</div> Of course it's not a popularity contest, I don't even think Chauncey is that popular. But looking at THIS year, both Rip's and Ben's stats are down, but Chauncey's are WAY up, and the pistons are still near the top. Plus, I said he's only a candidate, not the MVP, which is KG. Chauncey should be getting love for the work he's done, and be mentioned with the MVP candidates. And Carmelo not in the race? He too is a candidate, moreso than Kobe, who's stats aren't much better and has much more help. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">Too many are just looking at the Nugget wins and saying "Melo"</div> lol, people should be saying "Melo" after looking at the wins and their performance. Well people are lookin at Nugget wins and sayin Melo because he helps them a lot... he has the led the team in scoring 9 out of the 19 games they played... and look He leads his teams in points, minutes, 3rd in rebounds, 3rd in assists, and 4th in steals. If you HAD to pick a leader who you think it would be? Or at least pick who is doin the best on their team?

Melo is a biggest reason why Denver improved greatly, but also other players like Boytkins, Miller, Nene, Lenard are just as a BIG a reason why Denver is winning. His numbers aren't there, all he does is score, and that has been said. You have to have monster nights, and be consistent. This award isn't "who has led their team to the biggest improvement award". You make it sound like that, if the Nuggs didn't bring in that other talent, you wouldn't be saying this. I'm sorry, but this award goes to proven stars who put up monster numbers, along with carrying their team down the strecth. Nuggets have been a suprise, but who knows if they can keep this up. Now the reasons your naming are valid for ROY, but not for MVP.
The MVP usually goes to the best player on the team with the best record, I didn't agree with the last 2 years MVP choices but hopefully the NBA'll get it right this year. I'd like the KB8 to win but it's unlikely..
Ok, personally, about the Nuggets, I think they can keep this up. They have a tremendous amount of talent, they have a terrific spark off the bench, and are finally finding their groove offensively. That team is very good and will be a threat for probably the 5th or 6th seed in the West. But, as far as MVP candidates go right now, I think it should probably be KG so far. But, let's say he does keep up this pace of 22/14, though fantastic and MVP type numbers, what could hurt his chances are the fact that his team is now loaded with talent and really has no excuse not to win this year. Same with Shaq and Kobe. That's just my personal opinion. Things could and probably will change over the next 60some games.

First year was a good call for MVP, but last year I would have took Kobe, Kidd, and KG before him. Kobe led a struggling Lakers team with a unhealthy Shaq all year, avg 30-7-6, and 2 steals a game. KG had better numbers than TD, lossed about 9 more games though. As far as the Nets go, you can't cut off a player because he plays in the East. If he wins games and puts up good numbers he should have just as good as a chance as anyone though. We both have our opinions, we'll just leave it at that.

IMO, kidd would still be putting up all-star numbers in the west.. maybe less boards just because of the fact evry team in the west seems to have good rebounding forwards... but i bet he would still average 9-10 assists and 15-20 points.. a great player should be great no matter where you put him

Back about TD deserving MVP, KG didn't have much either. Tony Parker is a MUCH better point guard than Troy Hudson. KG had Wally for 52 games(only 42 started), on the other side Bruce Bowen shot the best 3pt% in the league last year. KG pretty much had no one, almost got them past the 1st round, and put up just as good as numbers as Duncan or better. Giving Duncan MVP last year was a bit of a stretch in my opinion.

He certainly was in the Lakers series.Wally was out injuried early on but he did come back when it mattered later in the season.Bowen shot so well because teams always doubled and triple teamed Duncan every chance they got.Duncan has such an amazing post game..KG on the otherhand relies on his jumping ability to be effective.Duncan carried his team to 60 wins while getting the 1st seed.Thats why he was more deserving.
