Like said before: "It aint over till the fat lady sings." Lakers will win game 5 just of the fact that everybody thinks that it is over. And I still think that the Lakers will be the first in history to come back after beeing behind 3-1. Its just like against the Spurs earlier. Everybody said the Spurs are even gonna sweep cause they had 2-0 advantage but still the Lakers won that as well. Im not worried. As a Lakers fan i say The Los Angeles Lakers are your world champion 2004.
Not over untill the fat lady sings (whatever that means). originaly posted by thwclown1 Aretha Franklin Is scheduled to the national anthem for game 5. Go pistons
Detroit does not have four wins.. Until the clock hits 00 and the Pistons are up. It is not over. The Lakers have proved that time and time again. I think as a team basing it on what has happened to them in the previous games and how bad they have played in the finnishing stretch. I would have to say from a standpoint If I had to pick. Yes they are done if they continue to play like they have in the last seconds. I also think that LA is mortal and that they are not just playing with Detroit to bring in Drama. I think they are really struggling and that this losing is for real. I think if they do come back and win the series it is something like LA getting some actual bench help, and working to win. I also think that History is ment to be broken. Detroit could win it tonight and have been the first team to win all three games in a row. Or LA could come back and win it in 7 and be the first to do so. Or Detroit could win in 6 or 7 and the whole History thing repeats itself...

Go pistons</div> That phrase refers to the fact is that in Opera, the finale was often a very large woman would sing something. Seeing as this is a finale also, this is how it applies, it means, it's not over, till it's over. Sadly I think it's over, even if they were to win this next game. They'd be under too much enormous pressure and be at a serious disavantage. They're playing too badly and having to rely on Shaq. GP is at the most serious fault in my opinion, he's not playing the way he's supposed to be playing. Plus and now, we've lost Malone, he was key as he provides some great moral support, attitude, defense and all around game for us. We need some consistency and easy big leads if we're to have a chance. However I don't see that happening. Winning is near to impossible.
I think that this series is over. The Pistons aren't that confident, and will put up a win in the Palace.
[quote name='jiggax23']These are the same Lakers that people counted out after being down 2-0 to the Spurs w/ no homecourt advantage.
Everything is set for the Detroit Pistons tonight. They're playing at the Palace Of Auburn Hills with 22,076 raucous fans that'll definitely be screaming at the top of their lungs for every minute of the game. Do the Detroit Pistons want to give all of that up and fold under pressure?? The Pistons have played us very well in the last four games, so there's no reason why they can't close it out tonight. However, if Kobe Bryant and the Lakers can stay true to their prediction and stay alive in the NBA Finals, face it. Detroit will be in serious trouble knowing that they'd have to play two games in Los Angeles for Games 6 and 7, and LA would love nothing more than to be the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit playing the final two games comfortably at home. Detroit, the ball is in your court. We'll see. But whatever happens, win or lose, everything is going to be alright.
I think the series is pretty much over. This is coming from a Lakers fan by the way. But, the Lakers have played terrible basketball. Kobe has been inconsistent, Payton and Malone have been literally nonexistent, the bench has produced, and the only person they're getting good, consistent offense from is Shaq. Plus, they haven't been able to keep the Pistons off the boards. Detroit is consistently outrebounding them. Overall, Detroit has outplayed the Lakers in every facet of the game. Now, is the series over, not necessarily. There is still a possiblity, because, the Lakers did come back and win 4 straight against the Spurs. But, that is a very small possibility. The Lakers have to be prepared and they have to find a way to score in the half court when Shaq isn't an option. Kobe needs to get it going consistently and someone else needs to step up.
What a difference a year makes. Lakers acquired Malone and Payton for a song and a chance for these two to win their first ring. On paper it looked like the Lakers would be almost unbeatable. Well Kobe personal problems & injuries, Shag's injury, Karl's history making injury, Fox injuries and Payton's inability to adapt to the Laker's offense created problems for the Lakers all season. Not counting the fueds between Shaq, Kobe and Phil. Most teams and coaches would of given up but Phil & the Lakers had their sights on another ring. I have been a Laker fan for over 20 years and this 2003-2004 season has been the most exciting and interesting one every for me and probably for most of the Laker kingdom. The Lakers are in the NBA finals and yes the are not playing as champions now but I believe win or lose Phil Jackson's Lakers will go down as the best ever. As it has been said in earlier replies to this thread, the Lakers are down 3 games to 1 but they aren't finished until the Pistons win 4 games. The better team will win tonite's hardwood war. Hopefully for me it is the Lakers and they will go to their castle they built and play like the champions they are. Am I a dreamer, maybe so but the Lakers all year have fought back and why should tonite and the Finals be any different for them. If Malone was healthy and that I know is a big IF, the Lakers would be playing tonite's game and be winning the Ring once again. Tonite's game will be the most important game for the Pistons as well as the Lakers. May the better team win. GO LAKERS LAKERS FOREVER If the Pistons win I will be the first to congraduate them. They play as a TEAM, unselfishly playing and great defense. Detroit is showing the NBA that defense and playing as a team is more important than egos.
