Hakim Warrick! Remember that the Hornets are picking first. Unless a mirace happens.

I'm goign to have to go with Bogut... I can see that he has impressed so many people from his play thisyear. Averaging over 20 and 10... which is insane in college play. It's rare to find big men as dominant as him in college these days.

Paul could go lower than 3rd depending on what teams go in what order. The Hornets have Dickau now, who's doing really good. Not sure if he's their pg of the future, but he's damn right doing good, around 16 and 8 since he's starting.

Atlanta will defeinatly draft Paul if they get the chance, Golden state won't, they need a big man. They already have Claxton. Charlotte has Knight and Hart who are a ferocious tandem together. So who knows how late Paul will go.

I belive that Garcia from Louisville is a top 5 pick and also I belive Julius Hodge could move in as a lottery pick also... I don't belive the hornets will be looking to draft paul because the way Dickau has been playing with Baron Davis on the IL after the get rid of Baron in a trade I belive they will either look for a small forward to replace the oft injured mashburn and/or a sg to compliment last years first pick J.R. Smith who I think will blossom into a nice tallent next year. I belive they will prob. trade back and draft Joey Graham form Oklahoma State or Kennedy Winston from Alabama....

I said earlier in this thread that I thought Bogut would go Number 1 or Chris Paul, depending on the team with the pick. Now, i believe Andrew Bogut is almost a lock. Finding a highly skilled, quality big man is hard to do, finding a guard is a little easier. The old adage 'you can't teach height' might play into Bogut's hands. Still early, but Bogut (Aussie, Aussie Aussie!!!) is firming for the top spot in my opinion.

True, he is a nice quality big man. I thought Chris Paul might go #1 too. Real PG's are hard to come by too.

But most of the bad teams need big men more than they need a PG... Atlanta is in lack of a pg and c so who knows what they'll pick. The hornets need a swingman or a pf in this years draft... Graham would fit them nicely.

I think it will be Paul or Warrick. It really depends on who gets the first pick. If the Hornets get the first pick they will probably go for Hakim Warrick to get a quality big man, considering they already have Baron Davis at the point. If the Haws get the first pick they will take Paul. They need a point guard that can distibute the ball and score.

I didn't know Hakim Warrick was going to be projected so high, I thought about #10.

Also Bogut and Paul seem like top choices, also does anyone know who he's projected to be like?

Bogut is shaping up to be a Tim Duncan-esque type of player. He has great size, great fundamentals, a nice jump shot, great post game, very complete all around. He has nice touch and finishes well and can pass and rebound with the best of them. He may be a touch taller, but this is the best comparison i see so far.

What I have seen of Marvin Williams is a real nice touch on the perimeter, little interest in D and soft as pudding as a rebounder-IF-he decides to play like a 6-9 power guy instead of a mid size 3pt specialist he could become a star, but if he was showing that desire he also would be getting full time minutes. Someone wondered how I could say Shelden is the better Williams? Watch SW rebound-tied with Bogut for #1 in NCAA,battles for EVERY board with veteran technique, watch his D,not only in the top 5 in blocks but ALWAYS plays at 100%. You can even compare scoring, and that should be edge Marvin as he has a classic J,but meanwhile, down in the paint Sheldon scores more-all that said Bogut is the logical #1 as he is the ONLY legit Center who has PROVEN he can play against a known level of talent and get big results. How much better is Taft than, say Channing Frye or Lawrence Roberts? How much better is Paul than the 3rd or 4th rated point? The teams that suck most are nearly all in need of a good C. Warrick is a guy with good overall skills, and while he is lean,he can be a tough inside player because he's high energy.R Felton is a very good passer-playmaker but will a GM draft him high with a ppg around 13-14? The HS guy,Green has shown a bunch of potential and a troubling tendency to not always use it,but how he and other HS prospects do now,as seniors in the season matters more than what rep they had as 16yr old phenoms

Some very interesting points you raised there and as you can tell I agree with the Bogut No.1 pick. I think you were a little harsh on your criticism of Marvin Williams and Paul. Marvin Williams after all is still in his first season of college hoops and while he does has a lot to work on, people now pick on potential not just stats. Also Paul is by far the best point guard in college hoops and would immediately impact with an NBA franchise so long as its the right team.

Taft and Marvin Williams dont even have great stats and i know this isnt about #1 pick but nate robinson tre simmons ryan gomes julius hodge wayne simien and more are being projected as 2nd round picks and i hope they do so Houston can get a steal because they are going to win 50 games and draft nate so im happy. But cmon...Chris Taft is a bum in games what does he average anyway 13 and 7????please....#1 pick in mock drafts last year and i dont see whats different.international players whos last name isnt bogut should NOT be drafted. Also what of the asian player who they were comparing to Yao?Cant remember his name...Also Sheldon Williams should be #1 if it was stats and hes built for the nba. Also what about Channing Frye and Salim Stoudemire and Ike Diogu...

It doesn't take a whole lot to make a decent effort at boxing out and covering your man. i have seen plenty off players who can shoot or can make some hilight jams and feel they are it and don't need to bother with D,boxing out, stuff most high school players seem able to do. Teams want to reach for some incomplete player who might decide to be a star, some Euro 6-11,18yr old minor leaguer,or some guy who in HS got praised for potential and some years later, has not progessed a bit. Kyle Korver was a deadeye 3 shooter, but just a round 2 pick. When Marvin convinces me he has more game than Korver I will start rating him high and for now I hope teams other than mine rate him very high. Guys like S Williams,Diogu,Warrick,Bogut,Simien give max effort all the time-and yet,so do thousands of guys who will never get beyond HS and JC ball. Perhaps next year Marvin will come around, perhaps he won't,he has big potential but so did Jonathan Bender

Something shocking would have to happen for Warrick to sniff the number one spot. He is undersized for the power forward position at NBA level, and doesn't have the perimeter game to be really effective at small forward. He needs a much better back to the basket game as well, as he won't be able to rely on his athleticism as much at the pro level. He should still be a nice player, but not to the extent where he is the best NBA prospect in the draft class.

Bogut on the other hand has legit size at seven foot, and a legit back to the basket post game. Whoever is the first team wanting a big man on draft day IMO will either go for the young prospect (Taft) or the polished player (Bogut). Warrick is neither.

Are you comparing Marvin Williams to Kyle Korver? Because if you are, you obviously haven't seen Marvin play enough or you are unable to judge potential and skill. Korver is a flat-out shooter whereas Marvin has an inside-outside presence that no other player that may possibly drafted has. Marvin isn't going to stand at the 3-point line all game and take shots and he isnt going to be banging for putbacks all game either. That is exactly what makes Marvin Williams the tremendous talent that he is, he is so versatile it's scary...and he's 6'9.

Effort doesn't notch you the #1 pick. If effort was so important, Reggie Evans wouldn't have gone undrafted. When you take a freshman in college, you expect a somewhat established player that has the sky as the limit for potential...work ethic comes later with coaching.

    "stands up and applauds Shard"

You Sir are obviously paying attention to the game of basketball and "know" your history. The comparison of Marvin Williams to Kyle Korver was now the 2nd dumbest thing I've read. And Rerem, the players you listed above, I'll give you several reasons as to why they will not ever be drafted above Marvin Williams with "maybe" the exception of Andrew Bogut. Warrick at the SOLID 210 he is, is going to get hurt playing the 4 at the next level. Damone Brown is all I have to say on that one. Ike Diogu, great college player, I love him. Scouts dont get hard for a 6-6 power forward with a vertical less than 30. Just a little info for ya. And Wayne Simien, another great college guy, but his injury history scares the hell out of almost every GM in the leauge. And you know what should scare him? I heard one scout toss out the name David West right after Simien's name. And I'm not gonna get on the Sheldon Williams junk. He's an eye of the beholder. I've heard a lot of GM's say he's Cherokee Parks, a couple said Boozer potential. But not one scout so much as coughed his name when talking lottery this year or next.

Scouts loved Darko, and who knows when he will be anythinhg. History?Hell, I used to watch Oscar play in college and when I was a kid I especially liked seeing Cousy and Russell against Slater Martin and the Lakers. Maybe I only saw Marvin in games where his 6-9 230 may as well have been 6-6 195, He simply was not doing squat on D or the boards. I saw him stroke a pair of 3's that looked great but I was pretty put off that the only time I saw him score inside was finishing a 3 on 1 break. I know Korver lacks the size, explosive potential Marvin has,but Korver works at both D and rebounding. When and if Marvin decides to be an all around great player,to work at it,to play full tilt like Oscar Robertson did,or Magic Johnson,he might merit top pick, but If he settles for being Chuck Person,he'd be another high pick mistake. To be the top pick,or top 5,whatever,you only need one team to think it's the way to go. Who is better now,Joe Smith or Kevin Garnett? Jay Williams or Gilbert Arenas? Brad Miller was not drafted but Diop was a high pick,Diop has the tools-Miller had the commitment

Obviously Warrick is not a power F,but he's effective and will be a solid pro-and in this crop many guys often listed in the top group are very speculative-we are arguing here about Marvin W as the top guy or in the top few...will he be the first non-starter picked #1? Will it be a Lithuanian or Serb who is probably not ready yet to start on a top college team? Warrick,or Paul would be a relative safe pick. Taft was expected to be more effective this year, dominant, and he's been good but not # 1 good. It will get real interesting if Bogut does not enter, with so many candidates a reach. Reggie Evans was a first rate rebounder in college and is doing it in the NBA now,he should have been at least a high #2.and maybe I'm thinking who I see being the good player 5 years from now rather than who some GM might decide to draft way too early.
