Ho... Fo' sho'. I was pleased last offseason, overall. I am a Hendo fan (love me some Duke basketball), but I'm left feeling like we retained our young and improving core, lost nobody, and gained a playmaker in Evans and a solid big in Festus. Hard not to like this offseason.
Yeah, I agree 1000% with you on all that. Man, I really loved the effort Henderson put in, with no complaint of not starting either. Such a team player! I REALLY hated to see him go.... Like you basically said-onward, and for sure, upward....
Before, I felt pretty neutral on him, in all the trade talking stuff. Now? Trade him. Fast. We need some mean, tough dudes in the paint. Festus, "Come on down!....". Sly, that was an awful video to post..... Lol
If he stays fit, it'll be Ezeli. I can see him turning into much more of a post threat than he was in the previous season. I think Harkless and Turner will significantly improve their 3p shooting while Crabbe will get more consistent.
You do know @SlyPokerDog put it in the rules of this forum that when you reach 420 You can brag, but when you hit 4200 you have to share!
I am SO sold on this guy (Festus). And ~fingers crossed~ he's gonna be just fine-health wise. Modesty, is a great trait to have, especially when fitting in with the rest of a team. Even if you're beating up the F out of the opposition.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festus_Ezeli "The start of his organized basketball career, with a low-level AAU team, was especially inauspicious; his first points were scored in his own team's basket. Recalling that incident, he said, "Everybody was running up the court, and I was just running with them. It's kind of surreal. Sometimes I think about it now and I'm like, Damn. How did I get here?"
Has to be Crabbe. He is currently being paid twice what he was worth last season so it figures he must have agreed to double his production.
meyers is better at dancing than rebounding. ergh :/ tbh i hope meyers is the most improved, id love to see this unique and valuable skillset people say he has.
Crabbe and/or Mo. If Festus gets ~30MPG and doubles his numbers, that's not much improvement, just more PT. Mo got 1.5x his regular season minutes per game in the playoffs and roughly doubled his production. I think he was improving quite a bit as the season progressed. Why wouldn't he continue to improve? Crabbe has shown steady improvement in his three seasons. He now looks like a solid rotation player, and might be a contender for 6MOY. Under the radar is Vonleh. If he can start looking like even a reserve NBA stretch 4, his year over year improvement would be quite significant. I would add that Aminu has a bit of room to grow. A step up from last year's production would be icing on the cake.
The number of names you can make a case for in this thread gives you an idea of how much untapped potential this team really has.
